    Trafford Specials

I'm not 100% on the details so you'd probably have to talk to Trafford council about it. People do work their area where they live yes, this is nothing that prohibits you from doing it. It all depends on you really. I don't Police the area I live because I don't live in the nicest of areas so I don't want to run into anyone I have dealings with on duty.

    Trafford Specials

Personally I'd say not to work the city centre, if I was you I'd choose Trafford. Also if you live in Trafford and Police as a Special in Trafford for (I think it's) more than 2 years you get something like 50% knocked off your council tax. I Police the area I live in and have neither had any issues. Just ask for the other side of the division from what you live on. i.e. I live on the north of my division so I only work the south.

    Trafford Specials

I do not sorry, but I know a few officers on the 'M' and they are good bunch. Although when it comes to experience, every area outside of the City of Manchester division are fairly similar.

What stage of recruitment/training are you at?

Do not get steel toe capped boots. I believe for the use you will be using them for getting steel toe capped boots would be against force policy.

    Assessment Centre

Patrol store offer some good discount on boots but normally there will be someone there on your induction weekend who will be selling some boots for the £30 which is the amount you get for expenses. Not sure how good they are. I spent £55 on my boots and I got Magnum Panthers. I have some good friends on the G Division, you should enjoy it there.

Whereabouts are you wanting to go? Sure I've asked you this before.

How, when and where to apply

If you are unsure about whether being a Police Officer is for you, you could also consider joining as a Special Constable which will allow you to dip your toes into the water to see if you like it. It will also allow you to apply for internal recruitment when it comes up. Unfortunately due to ongoing internal recruitment for Student Officers Specials recruitment is currently on hold but is due to start again soon. There are a couple of reasons why I suggest doing this: It will allow you to apply for internal recruitment which is more frequent then external. and it will allow you to see if you actually want to do it as a career. As it's a long and hard recruitment it would be a waste if you got all the way through and decided that it wasn't for you and left, which a hell of a lot of Specials do. They joined with the intention to apply for Regs when they could but decided it wasn't for them and left. You can apply for the following roles via the links provided when and if recruitment opens up: Special Constable : http://www.gmp.police.uk/live/Nhoodv3.nsf/section.html?readform&s=1C1EBF84C9B83A27802579610041F34F PCSO : http://www.gmp.police.uk/live/nhoodv3.nsf/section.html?readform&s=E2E028CE844F7DF2802579610041E6B5 Regular PC (Student Officer) : http://www.gmp.police.uk/live/Nhoodv3.nsf/section.html?readform&s=25B226FDEA5C2DF5802579610041CCA7

I believe one of the threads or at least most recent is https://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php/topic/151483-kit-bags/

    Buying non issue Stab/ballistic vest.

Yeah I can understand getting a new CS holder or cuff holder but a whole new stab vest that's taking it a little far and I can't imagine you'd be insured to use the non-issued one so if you did get stabbed on duty (Lets hope that really doesn't happen, touch wood) then they could say that you were using a non-issued stab vest so no pay out for you. Don't do it

    Search AC Transfer

Yeah Honesty and Integrity I'd say are being breached here and could put a permanent black mark against your name when applying. I'd also question whether these people have also having you on. The one Live application at any one time and 6 months between each application is a rule from the College of Policing which all forces are a member of and all applications go through so a force wouldn't even need to know that you had a Live application with another force as the College of Policing would already know. Personally I'd also say this says something about your character as well and if you're prepared to mislead on an application then maybe a police career isn't for you.

    Rural Special Constables

I'm confused, based on your previous posts on other threads I thought you were in the recruitment stage. How can you have been trained as a Rural Special if you are going through recruitment? Are you currently a Special or are you waiting for training to start in January?

Agreed the nicest person in the village could still become a violent drunk towards you, it doesn't matter whether you know them or not they see a uniform and turn on you. I Police in the area I live although I Police the other half of the division and not the side of the division I actually live on, albeit I did grow up in the area I am Policing and I have locked someone I went to school with up. Unfortunately it's not always that easy to deal with it and then ignore it, if it is a tight net community that you live in and Police in you might fine it even hard to just "ignore". From personal experience I'd recommend maybe look at changing to the next village along or something.
