Section 13 CPSA - Under used?

I've used it and arrested people for refusing - clearly I don't have great communication skills.

    Travel during training

The closest train station is Alloa, there are direct trains to Alloa from Glasgow, otherwise it's a connection at Stirling. From Alloa you'd be looking at £7(ish) taxi to Tulliallan. A car is definitely easier.

    Crown property

Common law is superceeded by legislation; in this case that legislation is http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1982/45/part/VI

For those who served in the previous eight forces; http://www.policememorial.org.uk/index.php?mact=News,cntnt01,detail,0&cntnt01articleid=85&cntnt01pagelimit=3&cntnt01returnid=62 - may or may not be of interest, has a brief history of each force, lists all the chief constables, crests/eppaulettes etc Also available in the Tulliallan library!

    The Scottish Police Drinking Club

CmdKeen I'm actually really disappointed to hear your unit weren't aware, I'll raise it with the chap who only had to letter all the military units throughout Scotland across the 3 services - his only task! As for mess dress, we have a rather fetching Scottish mess dress which is rather similar to the RAF kit. I'll try and get a photograph of it to let you have a look.

    Murrayfield, Edinburgh

Police Scotland Friends, I realise it's short notice but for those of you in and around Edinburgh (or of course those prepared to travel) the annual Thistle Ball is being held at Murrayfield to support a police and military charity. If you're interested in some decent food, drinks and entertainment please have a look at www.thistleball.org.uk for more details. Thanks guys!
  8. A mascot isn't furry die hanging from the rear view mirror, the dangerous mascot offence refers to items on the outside of the vehicle.

    BTP Air Support Unit?

BTP have access to three (i believe) NR choppers that are in the police blue/yellow livery. One is regularly in Scotland, I've had the pleasure of going up in it.

Section 1 Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005 and BTP

Section 69 Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003 isn't currently used in Scotland as BTP are covered by the current legislation governing police assaults; Section 41 Police (Scotland) Act 1967. It may be that the crown resort to using it, but at the moment BTP have been told it will be a common law assault (according to BTP officers, whom I have no reason to doubt). I'd hope that BTP are inserted into Section 90 Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012.

Section 1 Emergency Workers (Scotland) Act 2005 and BTP

In this section and section 91, a reference to a member of a relevant police force is a reference to a member of (a)a police force maintained under section 2 of the Police Act 1996 (c.16), (b)the metropolitan police force, ©the City of London police force, or (d)the Police Service of Northern Ireland. No mention of BTP, ergo it won't be an offence under the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012 to assault a BTP officer.
