    Driving in Merpol

Ah interesting, I think it'll be beneficial, not just to the specials that are basic drivers but also the regular basic drivers.

Where have you heard that they are implementing Compliant stops? I know that Basic Drivers will be able to attend grade 2's but haven't heard about compliant stops.

    BCU Visit Before Attestation

Hi Murtaugh, What BCU have you been posted too? Different BCU's run things slightly differently with new specials. Generally you're 1st shifts tend to be lessons/ administratitive type duties. But on the whole new specials don't visit thier BCU until after they have had thier attestation. So nothing to worry about. Feel free to PM me if you want. Phil

There is currently attachments whereby specials can be attached to either Matrix or Traffic for a 6 month periods and then return to area. It's not available as soon as you join, you will need to have completed a certain amount of your PDP, I can't remember of the top of my head what the figure is. And yes specials in merpol can drive. Our authority is at present very limited however.

    COLP Recruitment 2014/15

They will be opening up again for regulars around April Time for 2015 start dates.
  9. Yes, we in Merseyside are one of the few forces that still wear White Shirts and Ties. Our old CC (Bernad Hogan-Howe) hated the look of the black wicking tops, and I think our current CC, doesn't particularly like the back tops either.

Did he or didn't he? - Lip reading anyone?

Looks to me like he's saying " What are you frightened of?" If you turn the volume right up and listen hard you can just make it out too.

    Special Constabulary Cars

Didn't one force have a C-Max or S-Max fully marked up, with "Special Constabulary" in the rear side windows similar to where some forces have 'OSU Roads Policing'? Think it might have been Derbyshire.

    Internal Regs Recruitment hush-hush

When I had my driving medical at the OHU early November, the medicals are WC 6th march, so the 1st 20 would have to be last week in match if this was true, but I was under the impression that the 'funding' so to speak was for the next financial year... So it wouldn't be until 1st of April at the earliest..

    Internal Regs Recruitment hush-hush

There wouldnt be enough time between when the medicals are booked for, to have the drugs testing results come back and give the lucky 20 enough notice for them to tell there employer they were leaving..... Unless of course the 1st 20 were CSO's but then the medical and drugs testing results would still be a little bit tight.....
  15. http://www.liverpool...00252-32394790/ I think this is quite shocking, Surely the Fire Service should be praising Mr Stewart.
