MURDER - APPEAL FOR
INFORMATION |

Amanda "Milly" Dowler went missing on her way home from school on Thursday 21st March
2002. Her body was found near Fleet in Hampshire six
months later. Surrey Police are investigating her murder -
you can
read more here. Someone, somewhere knows who killed Milly.

Surrey Police has issued a
robust rebuttal to recent allegations in the Sunday Mirror
newspaper that called the enquiry into Amanda Dowler's disappearance
"chaotic and rudderless".

new powers to remove chief constables of
underperforming police forces

The Home Office has launched a new recruitment campaign for Special Constables. Costing around £500m, the campaign is part
of plans to reverse the steady decline in
the number of Special Constables. Currently
there are around 12,000 Specials in England
and Wales - the Government has said it wants
that number to reach 30,000 eventually.
