Do any cadet forces get identification cards?

Recommended Posts

I'm a cadet for the metropolitan police service and so often we have operations at police stations and you get challenged for ID when you leave the briefing room to go to the toilet. So I was wondering if any forces got some identification to say they're police cadets?

Im a VPC staff at one of the boroughs and as far as im aware you don't get ID cards. I know its a pain as I was once a cadet, had to wait in main reception for a staff member to let us in the doors or whatnot. The front reception know me now so they let me in. Staff at my borough don't get any sort of ID either but i've heard rumours that some boroughs have VPC staff that get ID cards. I doubt they'll give cadets ID cards anytime soon by the looks of it as they have to be escorted round the nick.

Cadets in GMP don't get any ID cards. It isn't too much of an issue however as the weekly meetings are held at a school rather than any police premises.

Ditto for Hampshire.

Ryan Corsini is the reason you don't get an ID card... Google him, look on ARRSE

Read the story about him, impersonating a police officer that's bad news if you actually want to join the police! He made arrests and worked with officers and they did not suspect a thing. Thank computers exist as this is the only thing that seemed to stop him.

Cadets with in the met dont get ID cards as they dont have Unescorted access to police buildings, cadet Staff only have ID cards if they been Admin vetted (NPPV level 2)

Normally cadet staff are only youth supervision vetted

cadets did have a little "Blue book" with the their picture inside. But I dont know if there still Issued

They still get issued the blue books with the picture aswell as the red pocket books. Are you a VPC staff at NPPV Level 2? Was looking at your signature, big wait from day 1 and day 2 wow.

That's interesting. Cadets in South Yorkshire are vetted to NPPV level 2, but that may be because what we're involved with differs from what other forces allow their cadets to do.

To the OP, South Yorkshire police cadets are issued with ID cards and a belt holder.

nooo I don't deal with the cadets anymore, and ive moved borough, YES was a long wait as because of the small pause they had in Feb.

All MVP and Cadet staff (admin based Role plus YSV) are NPPV Level 2)

Depends on the role, you can even be nppv level 3 on certain roles, yes mvp is better as you have access to the mets online system and you can for apply internal vacancies ect

are you not applying for MSC ??

I dont know if the met have driving roles, I know Btp did as a volunteer

Yeah thats true, and its easier access to the station instead of having the station officer to swipe me in! The VPC coordinator for my borough said that any VPC staff can drive met vehicles if they do their level 4 driving!

Remember earlier this year I applied and got posted to MSC in PL and in May I was in the final stage of vetting and failed? Got to wait until November to reapply!
