  1. Uniform fitting and equipment

Hi Ryan, I picked mine up 4 weeks before attestation. That was at the beginning of last year. Scrumpydoo84 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Specials Uniform

Hi Ryan, I joined Hants in Feb 2015. I posed an up-to-date (at that time) list of Issued Kit List for Male Specials in Hampshire... Hi-vis stabbies are for NPT and cycle units at present (to my knowledge), everyone else gets the black. Scrumpydoo84 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Radio earpiece

I used to have the same problem, then I got this... It extends further in to the ear so it appears louder, plus it has an open design so it fits in the ear better and allows in a bit of ambient sound so you can hear what's going on around you! Best police purchase I've made to date!
  4. PPE Pass or Fail

When I did my training in February, the instructors sprayed a canisters worth on to the floor of a little hut and the whole group had to go in kicking our feet whilst singing twinkle twinkle little star... Apparently it wasn't full strength stuff, but some of the group were a mess! As it was CS the kicking up off the ground was enough to cause effect. Effect wise it lasted for about 10-15 minutes, but the instructors did it at the end of the morning session so that we had time to fully recover / get changed and enjoy some lunch. 5. Warrant card as general ID...

But surely common sense... ? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
  6. Warrant card as general ID...

So I went to the shops today to get the weekly food shop. I thought I'd chuck in a cheeky bottle of wine to have at some point and went to the till as normal... I was using the self-service machines and so it flagged up for authorisation for alcohol - not an issue, I'm 30. When the assistant came over I expected the usual acceptance of looking old enough, but on this occasion I was asked for ID... Flattered The only thing I had on me was a bank card and my warrant card. I said (and showed) this to the assistant who asked if it had my DoB on it - no. I was told that she couldn't really accept it as it didn't confirm my age. She had a longer look at me and decided that I did look old enough (I obviously didn't weather well over the 30 second interaction) and so I paid and left. My question is this, would you have accepted a warrant card as sufficient ID? I'm not aware of any 16yr old police officers... I know she was only doing her job, I have no gripe with that at all, it just amused me.
  7. Quick question... Duty Vests

I've still got the belt so can't speak from personal experience, but my colleague switched to a vest as the belt was aggravating her back problems - stores were happy to provide. I'm sure if there's a justifiable need (vehicle access etc) then stores will give one to you too... Not sure about non-issued (self purchased) ones.
  8. SC Applicant

Hello, I'm an SC in Hampshire, I was attested in Feburary. I know it's a different force to the one you're applying for, but I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Scrumpydoo
  9. Public's reaction to Specials

I just go with SC Jones... Most people either just see the uniform or don't actually know/care about the title. It's like if someone were being interview by someone who titles themselves as DCI Bloggs - nobody is going to say he's not a policeman, just accept it's someone there doing their job. That being said, I do say I'm a volunteer police officer to those who ask as it's easier than explaining what a Special is... Otherwise I'm SC and proud of it.
  10. Issued Kit List for Male Specials in Hampshire...

    Correct, boots are not issued...
  11. Hi All, I've recently (Jan 2015) collected my kit from stores and thought I'd give an up-to-date list of everything included: - 1 x Long Sleeved Fleece - 1 x Set of detachable 'Police' badges (for fleece) - 1 x Hi-Vis Light (Summer) Over Coat - 1 x Hi-Vis Waterproof (Winter) Over Coat - 1 x Custodian Helmet - 1 x Flat Cap - 1 x Rain Cover for Flat Cap - 2 x Wicking Top (any combination of long or short sleeved) - 1 x Trousers - 1 x Leather Belt - 1 x Webbing Belt (Utility Belt) - 1 x Set (4) 'Keepers' (to hold the two belts together should you want) - 1 x Pair of Leather Gloves - 1 x Weather Proof Over Trousers - 1 x Set of Quick Cuffs (with 2 Long Keys) - 1 x Cuff Holder - 1 x ASP - 1 x ASP Holder - 1 x First Aid Kit & Pouch - 1 x Fixed Penalty Book Cover - 1 x CS Holder - 1 x Spare KlickFast Clip (Dock) for Webbed Belt - 1 x Hands-Free Torch (book light style) - 1 x Kit Bag - 1 x Warrant Card Holder - 1 x Stab Vest - 1 x Stab Vest Bag - 1 x Set (2) Fast Wraps & Pouch Scrumpydoo84
  12. SC Spray Exposure

I had it a couple of weeks ago in Hampshire. Was part of the lesson plan, not a request... They only used 2% not the 5% we use. Not too bad, slightly burning nose but no real effect on me apart from that (that bring said, I still wouldnt like to get sprayed by the proper stuff)
  13. 30bmi +

Hi, I'm in Hampshire and had a similar issue. I believe the mark is sub 30BMI, but if you are just above and you body fat is less than 25% you'll be ok...
  14. Fitness Assesment

I've done it twice (not because I failed might I add, but because it had expired before my vetting had cleared). The first time when nobody had done it before they ran it until people stopped (actually they stopped it at 11.4 as there was only one person still going (not me)), second time when people had done it before, we all stopped once we'd hit the mark. That's for Hants Constab at least.
  15. Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone on here is going to the Induction B (Foundation) course on Sept. 22nd ? Scrumpydoo84
