Apparently, my force doesn't issue warrant card holders, just the card itself. On anticipation of actually getting in (fingers crossed), where would be the best place to get one (online) and do you have any advice on things to look out for - bits on the card holder that you have found useful, etc???

Cheers.

Both my Derbys. and South Yorks. warrant card wallets came from a company called Jeeves Ltd of Liverpool(no idea if they have a website). The South Yorks. one is slightly better as it does not have an annoying flap covering the picture part of the wallet.

Just out of interest. Those that are in forces that issue them. Do you use them as a wallet???

Just asking if i was the only one who didnt use it as a wallet. Most seem to but i dont want all my personal details in my warrant card. Bad enough losing a wallet. But losing a wallet that identifies you as a police officer!!!!!

Oops...

I don't think Jeeves sell to private buyers...

My last force issued the ones you could use as a wallet, and I did - purely to save the agro of carrying two. This force issues the ones without, and as Chaz says I just keep a note or two in there for emergency scoff and the card.

I thought warrant cards included the force badge inside the holder.

No Jeeves will not supply warrand card holders to private individuals, even if they are delivered to a police station. I have asked.

Lincs issue Jeeves' warrant card holders to non - uniform staff. They will not permit uniform staff buy them, even at their own expense which seems odd to say the least.

Funnily enough - Merseyside use Jeeves too (seeing as they're a Liverpool company  )

Over the last few years we've had 3 different types... if I get the chance later I will post pictures of them... but to describe..

Mine is pretty much like a wallet - opens like a book - right to left. On the front cover (used to be in my case) is a silver print of the police badge. It's feint to start with and rubs off after about a month of general use so is a bit pointless. Once open, the left hand side is all black leather but with a flap - peel back the flap to see the warrant card underneat. On the right hand side is an enameled metal badge but which is on a separate piece of leather that flips up and down. This means you can open the holder flip up the badge and close it again so the badge is visible to the front. These are quite large holders and are easy to use as wallets as the compartments are not really visible. Mine usually has a cashcard and a few notes in as well and a couple of aide memoirs and all my PPE authorisation cards...

These were replaced by holders that again just looked like a wallet from the outside but opened like reporter's notepad, i.e. bottom to top. Once open, the top half has a clear plastic cover, through which your warrant card is visible, and the bottom half has the enameled badge as before, but with the word POLICE in big silver letters printed underneath - again these wear off after a bit of general use, but last a bit longer than the older ones as the lettering is on the inside. These can just about be used as wallets but are much more difficult as they are smaller, and only really have the one interior compartment. Might just sneak a cashcard and fiver in.

These were replaced again by a holder with the same size and format except that the badge is on the outside, again with the word police underneath in silver lettering. Once opened they have the same plastic cover behind which is the warrant card on the top half, but nothing on the bottom half, and in fact the bottom half is sealed so these cannot be used as wallets, unless you stash your stuff behind your warrant card itself. Having said that, as soon as you take it out of your pocket the badge and shiny POLICE lettering would probably disuade you from wanting to anyway!

I saw a friend's Essex warrant card holder and it looked nice, but the badge was made of electroplated *plastic*

And the Essex one is designed so that the badge sits on the outide of the holder and is exposed. A lot of them get chipped and damaged by keys and loose change in pockets.

I dont carry a wallet and hence keep my credit and switch cards in my warrant card holder, i never have cash (except for the emergency fiver  ) so its not a problem.Im quite happy to use it as a wallet and never had my face squished because of it yet ;) if you dont go flashing it around when you take it out to retrieve whatever then no-ones going to notice.

Also i was always led to believe that ,wherever practical we should keep our W/Cards with us so i find it easier.
