No link but from today's Sun:

Quote

A COP has been suspended for drink-driving - while on duty. Special Constable Jonathan Moore, 32, was one-and-a-half times the limit at MIDDAY in a cop car at Hemel Hempstead, Herts. He was banned from driving by Watford JPs, fined £150 and suspended - as his force launched a drink-driving campaign. Chief Inspector Paul Newell said: "Police officers and special constables act as role models. We expect the highest standards of conduct."

Oh dear.

I'm sure there is a disciplinary board just around the corner.. and I'm sure he won't be getting his warrant card back.

This doesn't represent the Specials very well.

I am very suprised that he turned up for duty if he had been drinking that much recently.

Unfortunatley the press do make an issue over these stories due to the nature of the job. I know of a traffic officer that was featured in the Sun who was caught speeding (it was a long time ago though)

This is the type of incident that sometimes leads to ALL specials being stopped from driving duties in a force. He's not just let himself down.

i doubt that very much blobby

collective punishment isnt the police way

if it was then no regs would drive either considering the number of regulars who have been in trouble for drink driving

Surely there's more than meets the eye with this story? I can't believe someone would so stupid to do this, it's basic common sense.

Fool. I'd imagine this was a morning after the night before (must have been some night) rather than him having a sly one before popping in for a few hours?

Plus what is "police officers and Special Constables" all about?!?

sounds like a very heavy night before, if the sun has actually printed the truth (would be a first)

also when people say special constables aren't police officers, especially when you hear it from PC's, it is annoying to say the least. If we aren't police officers then what the heck are we

not suggesting anything but what would a fellow officer do if they knew he was driving around and they had smelt intoxicants on his breath? :S

Well i'm sorry but i'd report him.I can think of many reasons why someone might not directly report him but all of those would pale into insignifigance if i heard that he knocked down a child the following week while DUI.

Apologies if it sounds blunt, but there simply is NO excuse not to report someone for DUI.If they have a sound reason for DUI then they can justify that point to the powers that be.

I'd do the same, but why are you even apologising?!? It's a requirement of your office!

I'll put 50 quid on him not getting it back. And quite right too.

People who drink and drive, whoever they may be, should be put in front of the families of people killed by drunk drivers. After hearing the stories first hand from the bereaved families, they will probably think twice before doing it again. (I would hope so anyway)
