Hello Guys/Gals,
Just a quick hello you all and to say that I have just started to consider a position with the specials which was brought about from the ride along scheme with the regulars, I have a friend who is a serving Police officer and He invited me to join him, Well I loved it and since a week ago cant stop thinking about joining up with a view to becoming a regular.
Any advise would be gratefull,I know its not all blue lights and running but I enjoyed the company and was very impressed with the officers on how they went about thier duites.
Great forums by the way!

P.S If there any serving SC in the Trinity station can you give me a typical day /evening on duty.
Hi
Im just completing the 2nd to last training module with A+S specials. I'll be going to D district which is bristol north (Staple Hill/Filton/Thornbury/Chipping Sodbury) but there are plenty on here from B district which is central Bristol.
To give you an idea, from expressing interest on the website to starting training is about a year maybe a bit over. Training is every other weekend for 8 weekends and unfortunately you can't miss any so make sure you're free for all of them.
In terms of process you express interest on the website, they invite you to an informal group meeting at a station where they run through the role and give you all the forms to fill in and run through that. After you've filled in all the forms you get invited to sit a PIR (Police Initial Recruitment) Test which is multiple choice for maths/english etc and is generally fairly straight forward. Providing you pass that you will be invited for an interview which is mainly competancy based (give an example of a time you have... etc) and also giving you situations you might be faced with as an officer and asking how you would act. Following on from that is a medical at force HQ (Portishead) and then its all done and you'll be giving your dates for training!
Hope that helps
