I'm about to start training in November and was wondering if I needed to get any boots prior to training or if they will be issued as standard kit, does any one know

You won't need them for training, but yes you do need to buy your own - boots aren't currently issued.

I would start looking round for some boots now, so you're sure you have the right ones in time. I got mine shortly before my training began.

Thanks. I'll have a look around, were is the best place to get them from I've seen there is a few places online but wasn't sure if there were any shops around the Lincoln area that you can get a better look at them and try them on.
Are boots the only kit that i'll need to buy myself.?

Try Millets next to HMV, they have a range of boots in there.

I think most people tend to buy them from www.niton999.co.uk that's where I got mine from anyway. I bought them half way through my training. You don't need to buy anything else apart from boots and once you have done 200 hours you can claim back £50 for them.

I went to Millets for mine, I wanted them fitted properly rather than buying online.

I reckon Niton's quality is going downhill a bit, just bought a new cs holster and its a little cheap and nasty compared to last one, same price though!!! My combats lost their colour after about 3 washes, and I bought 2 new handcuff keys - same model and price, 1 was solid metal and the other was bored out metal and plastic!!

Generallly they are one of the more expensive retailers, but their own brand quality won't affect the Magnums they stock, for example.

BTW, look at the Peter Jones ILG CS holsters, they're the top ones.

Hey guys.
Im looking to get my boots now (i start training in oct). Just wondering whether someone can confirm if steel toecaps are allowed. Recruitment seemed to think they were but werent 100% sure. The boots im looking at are the altberg peacekeeper p3 aquas. £115 but down to £83 for police. Bargain.
Cheers

Doubt it. Have you tried walking for 6+ hrs in steel toecap? Also if you had to kick somebody as in offensive/defensive how could you judge the amount of force you need and also the damage you would do?
