I have found out thats its been a bad idea not doing a little bit of drill at the beginning of every meeting now, seems my cadets cant to drill or march (not that I can, though I just stand at the front at the moment and bark orders)
I'm more nervous than last year seems am stood at the front of the cadets and not in the middle of them so cant mess up and hardly anyone know.
and now I wear a flat cap I haven't got a clue when I have to take it off or anything.

I got a letter from the mayor from the town my cadets are in. It was personally signed aswell.

People in authority know where you are, and where you live all the time
Im sure you'll be fine for the day.

Only thing is they can't do drill and march to save there life. We spent all the meeting tonight doing it (we only meant to do it for 30 minutes max) and they are still hopeless. I don't know how sunday is going to go. Am half hoping someone gets injured at the being and they have to go on without me.

I'm in Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force and unfortunately we are unable to parade this year as our local force (GMP) are refusing to sign our forms to say that we can march under their protection, even though, officers will be their to police the parade as usual. There hasn't been an issue in previous years so I don't understand why now?
Because 97 other units from GMACF need their forms signing, Mr Fahy has refused to sign all the forms. Unfortunately it will be a rare sight but the Army Cadet Force will not be paradung much...Just in the city centre i've heard
I never moan about my cadets because they are a nice lot.

DanielS-
I have been teaching at my unit for a few years now and the thing our new recruits always get stuck on...is drill! At some point i think how can you not get at after we have practiced it some 10 times
What I find works is, if you split down the drill movements into parts. For example- The turn (i hope it's the same) i show them to turn keeping one heel on the floor and toes of the other foot pivoted. Thats step 1. Then hold the leg up 90 degrees- step 2...then stamp in- step 3. I usually find this works
For marching...tell them that it is just an emphasised walk...all they are doing is walking but swinging their arms higher and looking smarter while walking in step to your command.
Hope this is ok for you!

I dont see why you need GMPs protection though, surely its up to the adult volunteers to be there and to look after you.

I find out tomorrow whether im needed at either events for remembrance.

If im needed at either i'll be ok, as iv done drill for the last 4 years.
