To be honest there are not many dyfed-powys specials on here, the ones that are I believe are more over Pembrokeshire and Cardigan divisions rather than Carmarthenshire or Powys.

Hey hey Clairey,
Welcome to the DPP area of PS.com
I'm Cairn, the mini moderator for this area, and a DPP special.
If you want to know anything then do not hesitate to ask.
Geeteecymru is a PC up in Brecon and is lovely...

Well I live in Brecon so am hoping I can be posted here! But fingers crossed I need to get in first, got through the first sift and am now waiting for a date for the assessment/fitness test, am quite hopeful as I have done a few jobs over the years and have quite a lot of varied experience working in the community, before now working for Powys County Council as a manger.
So where are you based? Sorry loads of questions!! Will all the assessments etc be in Carmarthen?
Cheers

Congratulations on passing the paper sift, to be honest that is one of the hardest parts of the application process.
The Assessment is just a PIRT along with a Fitness test, then a few weeks later an Interview with your local NPT sergeant (though this may differ from station to station). Then the final part will be the medical
I'm based in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire.
All assessments and training are in HeadQuarters in Llangunnor, Carmarthen. Once you are attested (passed out) you will have monthly training sessions that will be held somewhere in your division.

Just to explain, in case the jargon is baffling you Clairey,Congratulations on passing the paper sift, to be honest that is one of the hardest parts of the application process.

PIRT is the Police Initial Recruitment Test and basically tries to establish what your level of English and Maths are.
NPT is the "Neighbourhood Policing Team".
If you're in Brecon, then the training sessions will be there with a PC and a Civilian once a month, they're both good guys, have a laugh with them

Haha, yes sorry, I forget sometimes... I get looks from my friends sometimes when I refer to places and things by abbreviations

Your interview will most likely be with the pdu manager in Brecon rather then npt - it's mark something, can never remember his sirname!! It's just an ammanford thing that npt run the specials down your way cairn.
Pdu - proffessional development unit
Everything differs from division to division,. and station to station, Ammanford isnt the only one in A div that does it this way.

Be as calm as you can, do not worry too much (easier said that done I know), and get plenty of sleep and rest the nights before.
Make sure you eat and drink before the PIRT and fitness test... you dont want to end up fainting or not being able to concentrate,
Other than that... best of luck!
