I'm doing a little bit of research, and I wanted to know if your Force (or unit) has a rank system to cadets, and what is it?

Here are the Force's, please pick your one and tell us about your unit.

Cleveland Police

Derbyshire Constabulary

Dumfries and Galloway

Dyfed-Powys Police
Essex Police
Grampian Police
Lancashire Constabulary
Lincolnshire Police
Merseyside Police
Metropolitian Police
Northern Constabulary
North Wales Police
South Yorkshire Police
Sussex Police
West Mercia Police</div>

Just to let you know... Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police have not actually got their cadet scheme up and running yet (starts in September), and it is only to see if it works in the Powys area before they decide to have it spread across the entire force area.
If I find out any more information about it I will let you know!

Lincolnshire Police Volunteer Cadet Corps.

Cadet (bottom rank, everone starts here!)
Position of Authority - These people fill in for the Section leader(s) if absent.
Section Leader - these look after the cadets and have authority over the lower ranks.
Right Marker - Head cadet.

And then you have the officers who run the cadets as well, mainly Police Constables.

I am a Section Leader

I don't actually think Merseyside have any ranking system within the Cadets ..

Don't take my word for it though, I shall find out in a couple of weeks time

I spent 4 years in the Air Training Corps, and our Drill rules and regulations (also those of the RAF), stated that the right marker was to be the tallest cadet/airman/NCO on parade

Thats how I did it, before I was a cadet and after I was a cadet there was a NCO as the right hand marker because he was the tallest. Then I messed it all up because I was the tallest.

Now hes the right hand marker again.

That may well be the case in the RAF, but i am certain it is not within the police/cadets?

Nb it wasn't in my unit, are right marker was really short for a male, i was taller than him, at 6ft 3

EDIT i wasn't 6ft 3 when i first joined the cadets , but on many occasions i was often taller, as were others that the right marker

only cadet rank in north wales police is 'cadet'
keeps things simple :)

we tend to have the right marker as the tallest of the group also, with the shortest at the back left

For drill we line up tallest on the right, shortest on the left and march in a circle, either going front, centre or rear with the right hand marker standing fast.

In Drill yes, so the 'Right Marker' aka head cadet, is not always in that position, shes one of the smallest haha!

Normally the County Cadets Of The Year and National Cadets Of The Year are between Cadet and Lead Cadet in rank though they get a rope to wear on formal uniform

Tell me about it, no offence to the St.Johns, but I wasn't sure how they could integrate a rank structure in to their service. Although being on the remembrance parade last year and seeing st johns behind us, had the peak caps with embroidery on them.
