ah hang on, the ironic song was "Another one bites the dust" for CPR...
there as also "Staying Alive" by the bee gees, we were taught these to keep the beat.

100-115 bpm songs the both of them

Don't know which queen song it is, we arent teaching it with a song at the moment until the youth team decide what song to use.

Not yet, waiting for the next training course for defibrilllator and medical gases.

I know we are teach the cadets not to say it/sing it out loud if they ever have to do CPR, but it wouldnt be good if they start singing "Another one bites the dust" if there is a crowd of people.

no not best practice to treat life saving as karaoke.
but it's a song to have in your head.

Is it easy to get into other things within St John Ambulance? For example, CRU or as a PTA/ETA

Interesting ... could you elaborate on CRU, PTA & ETA please? And also maybe a summary of what is involved in each of them.

I'm very keen to be involved in Medical and Policing ... so SJA and Parks police, for now, are ideal for me

That's only if there are severe facial injuries or there are other factors dictating that you cant give E.A.R.

No, on my last First Aid Refresher about a month ago it was being looked into as the action of the chest compression forces air in and out of the lungs negating the need for any breaths and that pausing the chest compressions to give rescues breath increases the risk of brain damage.

At the moment, it's still only being talked about, until we hear fro the resuscitation council, we are still to teach E.A.R. on first aid courses.

My friend, what you are doing is same as volunteering for a private ambulance firm. STJ is making money out of you (volunteers) and that is A LOT OF MONEY... Also you might get more training in the private sector than STJ. Look in to it.

I used to teach that when it was 15:2 It just doesn't work on 30:2 :p

Still works mate ;)

True
 :p ;)
