I have applied for the specials in Nottinghamshire but still in 2 minds whether to apply for Lincs instead (I am from Grantham)
Now there is no PIRT for Lincs, so what happens at the interview stage? Is it a formal chat or is there competence questions?
Cheers
Steve

At the interview stage there are competency questions but it isn't hard and they do help you along the way if you are struggling.
Good luck with whatever force you decide.

Hi mate, thanks for you're reply, I don't have a problem with the competency questions so I should do fine was just wondering if them sort of questions would be asked during the interview stage.
Cheers

I did with Nottinghamshires application form, would have thought Lincs would be the same, not the questions to be exact but clues of what may be asked

I had my interview a year ago and received absolutely nothing regarding what would be asked at interview, however, I imagine that what you were told my Nottingham Police will be very similar to the kind of questions you will be asked by Lincolnshire.
Everyone is given this by Notts and is also on there website
In the interview you will be asked 6 competency based questions and will be assessed on the
answers you give.
Types of questions to expect –
• Give an example where you have stuck by a decision, despite everyone else disagreeing
with you.
• Give an example of when you have been presented with a problem that required you to
make a sound decision?
Core Competencies: –
• Respect for Diversity
Understands other people’s views and takes them into account.
Is tactful and diplomatic when dealing with people.
Treats people with dignity and respect at all times, no matter what their background,
status, circumstances or appearance.
• Team working
Develops strong working relationships within and outside own team to achieve common
goals.
Contributes to team objectives.
• Personal Responsibility/Prioritising
Takes personal responsibility for making things happen and achieving required results.
Uses initiative
Management of workload
• Resilience
Responds to challenges rationally, avoiding inappropriate emotion.
Prepared to make difficult decisions and has the confidence to see them through.
• Conflict Resolution
Tries to sort out problems as quickly as possible.
Focuses on the individual(s)
• Problem Solving
Gathers information from a range of sources.
Identifies relevant and important data from information given and makes effective
decisions.
Communication will be assessed throughout the interview.

That's really helpful then, I was given nothing to go on but if you think of one or two answers for each of those points you will fly through the interview with ease. Like I say if you're having difficulty they do help you and try and give you an example of what they are looking for. Have you applied to Lincolnshire or not?
No I applied for Nottinghamshire, they seem more helpful
