They did a new recruitment campaign in the last quarter of last year; I should think that's keeping them busy.

Well the thing is I live in essex right now, joining the specials because I do want to be a Reg some day. I have been a PCSO in the past was not for me really. I am looking to move to cambridge in the next 6 months, so if its possible ill transfer with the specials if i get in, to cambridge. then apply to the regs while im doing that. I hope this clears things up a bit.

Just a quick question - if being a PCSO isn't for you, why do you think that being a Special or regular PC will differ? Not being confrontational, just curious.......

because the main problem I had with being a PCSO was I felt restricted, I wanted to be a police officer but failed the test and they told me to join the PCSOs, at the time it was a new thing from the moment I joined it was a complete mess, they had no idea what to do with us and most days I would even go out without a radio. I have always wanted to be a Police Officer its why I keep coming back to it. I hope this clears it up, but if you do have anymore questions I would be happy to answer them

you don't have to justify youself to me mate, just asking. Going out without a radio I believe was common place for PCSOs in the early days. Wholly unacceptable but now rectified - certainly in Cambs. Good luck with it all bud.

I did not mean to seem like I was jumping on you, sorry if I did
. What im thinking is either wait till cambs are recruiting or apply to the met and get the train in which is free right? The met are recruiting but you have to wait for an open day which never seems to come. I have my test in less then 2 days for specials so lets see how I get on with that then.p.s Yes being a PCSO when they first came out was not fun at all I got run over on the day I had no radio by a angry driver who did not like the fact I gave him a ticket.

They have more than enough in the paipeline waiting to go so will not be opening up for applications just yet

they are taking expressions of interest
Which means they are recruiting because I am transfering my application from the Met to here as we speak

There was an open evening on the 21st of September at WATA in Huntingdon...I know a few people that went and apparantly you needed to attend it to get an application form. Think you had to book a place on the Cambs Police website but it was only up there for a couple of days!

There is one next tuesday, I booked my place on it the other day

A friend of mine submitted during the week and was told it could take 2-3 months for regulars. Good Luck!
