Ladies and Gents..

It appears to be dying a death on this forum and as we are supposed to be entering a new era....Lets start a new topic....How shall we begin.....Ahhhh I know...a little bit about youselves and your service...lets call it an Icebreaker.....I shall go first...

Me....9 years service, mostly in the ghetto of D Division...Dayjob of being in the Control Room looking after you all when you are fighting crime....Rank of Section Officer....about to go on my first duty tomorrow morning after an enforced absence of 7 months...arghhh wish me luck....

So go on then...who's next???

Yes, it is a bit quiet that's for sure. :D

I'm almost three years active now (almost had Mrs Skippy has my SO but missed due to a transfer), always been in the same area in 'C' (now 'E') div, and at the moment the only special in my station, so becoming independent was really a necessity.
Had quite a few different types of shift over this time, but still enjoying it. Managed to recruit one more special to date, who knows if I can boost that number sometime! :prone:
Interested in seeing what the 'winds of change' will bring, as not been through this process before.

Quiet? It's dead!!

Had just under 3 years service in CO/EO. Wootton Bassett sector!!!!!! Am now just approaching the end of Phase 3a Regs training and get released on tutorship soon!!

Didn't benefit from Mrs Skippy's years of expertise, but did do my driving course with her! Good times!

Am currently very pleased that there are new specials in training after a long delay!!

Well, I am a 4 year independent officer based at E div North (longest serving officer at my station), have seen lots of changes over the years with the numbers dwindling at the station and overall but as everyone else does I am hoping to see a lot more positivity over the forthcoming months.

Personally looking forward to a rank structure coming back in as this is the area that is seriously lacking (as other people will agree!!).

One thing we need to do is spread the word about this site as this is so good to keep in contact so keep going all and please keep the little ditties coming!!

Ok here goes :prone:

Approaching Attestation on Sat in Devizes & soon to be sent to Swindon sometime i think in March. Currently undergoing a fairly intensive schedule with a fairly good high level overview on the basics of policing. Equipment and uniform received yesterday and already starting to feel that i may be asking for some lessons it dressing myself as the fear of turning up with body armour on back to front on the outside of a high viz thick jacket is increasing :D

Not sure what is planned in Swindon though i am looking forward to learning and getting out and about getting stuck in...

Oh and i have met Mr Goacher who makes a reasonable cup of coffee :)

Hi I one of the newbies currently in training started in nov 08. Loving every min of it so far and cant wait to get out and about. :prone:

my 'paid' job well not to sound like i am a bit disgruntled but currently working through redundancy at the moment so on the prowl for something new (feel a change coming on and a challenge) although now is possibly not the time to be job hunting!!

I am a fan of the classic minis and go to shows all around the country and hoping to do some abroad this year as well.

I have a Beagle puppy which keeps me out of mischief and fit - his name is Max although he has inherited the name Monster in front of that!!! Can't think why :iagree:

thats me

Hello all,

Well I'm currently in training and have been since November and it's very good.... I was accepted into the force back in 2007 and was due to start training in June that year but at the last minute, Wiltshire stopped all specials recruitment and training. Now I've finally started training I must say, it's been a worthwhile wait since the course is now the most comprehensive given to specials in Wiltshire - 25 weeks long compared to the previous 11 weeks.

I've been posted to Wootton Bassett and look forward to getting out there and putting some of this classroom theory into action! It seems like ages away that I finish training and tutorships and become independant - August 17... !!!!

I had hoped to join the force as a reg 7 years ago but ended up in IT. I love my job but still want to get involved in policing so becoming a special was a no-brainer.... very much looking forward to getting started! A big hello to you all... I recognise a few of your names.... BTW - Mr ipbloke.... I know who you are you coffee addict! :prone:

Thanks mate! I'm thoroughly looking forward to starting at Bassett. I know you were based there for some time before starting the regs training. I hope it's all going well. Do you know what station you'll be based at after you finish classroom training?

It's a shame they haven't decided on postings yet. You might even find yourself back in Bassett... :prone: Hope VCT goes well for you.

Well, I've been around for quite a while!

My name's Adam, I'm 19 and live in North Wiltshire.

I'm not a serving officer, but will be applying to the specials at some time in the future. I'm currently in my second year of a 4 year BA(Hons) in Modern Languages & European Studies (French & German) and have to spend next year abroad. I'm hoping to spend it teaching English in the Saarland area of Germany,

Hello!

My Names Dan, I'm coming through on the Nov 08 intake, we're about to start our Witness Tutorship.

I'm going to Swindon, and would like to go to the town centre.

My day job is a hotel manager - It's dull, but I'm hoping that Specials will make up for it.
I'm also a Scout Leader in Bassett.

And I make a very good cup of tea.

"Hello number one, what's your name and where are you from?"

"Hi Cilla, my Name's Rich and I'm from Wiltshire"

*Crowd Cheers*

....Sorry....got carried away there!

Hi All! I've only been a member of this forum for a few days, and have found loads of useful info on here!
So, all about me! Well, I'm 27, and haven't long started my Specials Training at HQ (3rd session coming up this Sat). I've always had an interest in joining the force in one way or another. I wanted to join at 18.5, but my eyesight is to poor to join the regulars. So, after various jobs (customer service, Sales, Bus Driver) I then went to University for four years (Teesside) and studied Digital Forensics - a very interesting topic and one which can be very enjoyable - anyway, completed that last May but for a couple of reasons, decided I didn't want to pursue a career in it. So, left Middlesbrough and moved back down to Westbury. I currently work in Trowbridge as a Team Leader, which I enjoy, but have joined the Specials to gain some very worthwhile skills, and ascertain whether I want to fork out for laser surgery in the future and join the regulards!

Anyway - enough about me! lol! Looking forward to bumping into some of you in the coming future

Why not, here is a very little bit of info about me as this IS a public forum.

Just over four years service in E Div. There were quite a few specials when I started, but have watched the numbers fall. Try to do duty as often as possible however my paid work is very unpredictable and am often away from home.

Hello all,

Long time lingerer round these parts but now I'm on active duty, time to say hello formally!

My name's Rich Ellis, I'm 26 and 11/12ths lol. I'm in the same intake as djengland, ipbloke, bluemountain2009 and deewilliams08 and know them all well now after several months of training!

We're on our suspect training as of Saturday 25th April, the last stint before we finish all the training at HQ. Been out during April on the Witness tutorship and that's been incredibly fun and informative at the same time. Looking forward to getting back and finishing the last of the training off before going out to make some arrests for myself! :-)

By day I'm an RF Electronics engineer working on mobile phone tranceiver systems so it's nice to be out on the streets instead of stuck in a lab all day!

Hi ! :D I'm Ash, havn't read of others coming through the same intake as me...maybe theres some around just not posting? I got the letter through the post a week or so ago saying that I'd passed the interview stage and am currently gathering all the bits and bobs I need to go through checking etc.

Ive not long been 18 and am really looking forward to starting as a Special in the coming months! I've always wanted to be a regular officier and missing out on the application stages...really wound me up! :prone:

As some of you know it was open for a mere 2 hours and not even advertised as to when it was opening! So i missed my opertunity of applying even though i was watching the websites 'reqruitment status' every day.

Maybe a move to the MET is in order!?

Say hi if your in the same intake as me! :)

Ash

Hello All, My name is Dan and this is my first post. :prone:

Not a serving special as of yet but am applying, it appears that recruitment have ran out of application packs. I am interested in joining the specials as I would like to eventually become a regular. So I am testing the water so to speak. Just moved to Swindon at the start of March and so far so good.

Little bit about me and my interests. I am 22 years old and work in the IT industry, have wanted to be a regular since college but thought I would get some more life experience first. Have traveled around the place and have taught canoeing in America. I am a keen scuba diving enthusiast and am currently working towards my Padi advanced open water.

Anyway I thought I would introduce myself and to say that I am finding this forum very helpful.

Cheers,

Dan

Welcome djmh. Good luck with the application . I`m currently part of my way through the training at the moment and it is all well worth it, Wiltshire is a great force to work for. The process for me took 5 months, I applied Sept 08 and started training Feb 09. I`m being based in Swindon so I hope to see you in the next year or so.

Congratulations to all on intake 03/0809 following your attestation yesterday.

I hope all three of the newest intakes enjoy what is left of your training period. I know you are all keen to get onto division, but it's vital you can deal with what you will face there so your training is extremely important.

We look forward to seeing you on divisions in the near future ... It will fly by !
