arrest the terripin for sus assault and call an ambulance
edit: Seriously. If its not excessive I would leave it in the tank, they probably get injured in the wild and deal with it. Obviously if its a lot probably better to apply firm pressure and elevate.
What colour is their blood?

Your Terrapin probably just needs to rest and it will heal by itself. All you can do for the time being is to moniter him for the duration and take him to a vet in the morning,. You could try Googling it. or 118/ Yellow Pages. I'm sure he'll be ok.
Here's to a Speedy Recovery!!

Ben

It sounds like it will be fine. Has the bleeding stopped?

If you feel its really bad vets are on Emergency as its out of hours, but dont think because you have a terrapin that it isnt important.

i took him out for about and hour and a half, but he keeps running around and trying to climb out of its box and that makes it start bleeding again...but i thought it had dryed up and put him back in the tank. he seems alright now... but will ring up later he wasnt bleeding too much, but you can see a small tiny trail of blood coming out of his finger

i asked for some advice and was told to leave it for now, its not bleeding, hes using his feet fine, i think hes in shock at the moment, he has been in the hut for ages! i dont want to add to the stress.
i could see over half his nail has gone, will double check at the vets tomorrow, but he seems happy for now and not in pain, but hes not bleeding!

He will be in a huff about the other terrapin beating him up. He will come out when he feels safe.

the other one was fine, finished everything! i had to feed some squid to the injured one, he liked that!
Glad to know that he's ok. Just a quick "Q" for you. How much are Terrapins in Britain to buy and keep? Do you have to moniter them all the time? I understand that you are not really allowed to handle them. I've always wanted a Terrapin or a small Tortoise. They are so sweet and cool.
Regards,
Ben
well i bought mine from a local pet shop, it costed me £50 for two. you will have to keep an eye on them all the time, also you need a big tank (mines a 90L tank, but am planning on getting a bigger one soon...) and loads of rocks and dry spots with a heater. Best if you could get a external filter, because the internal ones are not that great i have an internal filter and well lets just say i have to change the water in the tank every 5-6 days simply because they er hmm...crapp alot
also feeding them in a separate area is ideal, trust me! as with handling, i think mine are generally fine, but they dont like being picked up and tend to wiggle alot when they are, they like to be on their tiny feet! but you have to bare in mind that they can grow a bit big and even larger for tortoises...
at the moment ive had the terrapins for about a year and a half and are about 8-9cm from head to tail. they do have cute and innocent faces and tend to nip your hand when you're trying to pick rocks and take water out the tank! but thank god they dont hurt that much!! they are cool pets and have a great attitude!

Thanks for that! I am seriously considering getting some! But, the downside is, I work 12 hour shifts so I may not be able to look after them properly. What do they like to eat? Is it expensive feeding them?
Whoah! I didnt know that they could grow bigger than Tortoises!! lol.

hmm...well they are quite independent, i got 2 because i thought they would become friends and wont be lonely!
i dont think that would be a problem, you would only be feeding them once a day, as long as they have their uvb light they will be fine and some tall rocks, they light climbing to the highest spot and stare at the bright light!
they eat loads of foods, seafoods, bloodworms and daphnia...just things you would find in the ocean their favourite is squid and shrimp, expensive, but frozen isnt too bad, i bought a 1kg bag of frozen cleaned seafood for £3.99. the expensive stuff is bloodworms, theyre about £2 a pack. but make sure its the washed ones, otherwise it becomes smelly and sticky! and you will have to rinse them yourself, not a nice job! :s
also they dont grow bigger than tortoises, they are smaller and more manageable
