The dogs will be either springers or cockers, the springers being the larger of the 2 breeds

I didnt realise you had to shave dogs. Learn something new everyday!

And yes, you do need to shave dogs, although they molt, shaving them makes them a lot more comfortable as they don't carry round a full coat in the hot summer. It also stops them picking up so much debris while charging through fields and woods (and makes it easier to clean all the mud off them)

Very interesting.
Is that using a normal set of hair clippers? Does your dog just sit there while you do it or is it a struggle.

I don't know, I pay the dog grooming salon £35 quid and they give him a full pampering. whenever i try to bathe him i get wetter than he doesVery interesting.

I know that feeling!
Also the police also use labs as search dogs they are (like the spaniels) are very good for air senting, sarda use them a lot for MRC work.

well that narrows it down.
there is probably over 100 different breed which are small/medium and have floppy ears
when you say floppy do you mean, button ears, drop ears, rose ears, semipricks, or hound ears?
and do you mean which breeds are police/etc breeds, or breeds which had dogs that were popular has police/etc dogs, or breeds which are police/etc breeds and had dogs which were popular as polce/etc dogs
