Hi all

Just a quick question. When setting up your utility belt, were do you place your CS holder, handcuff pouch, and baton holder.

I've been told (if right handed) you wear handcuff pouch on your right, then baton holder on left with cs holder in front of that? Is this right?

Cause i thought your CS went in front of your cuffs, and baton on other side.

How does everyone wear theres???

Thanks.

Its whatever you are comfortable with.

But i must laugh at bobbies who wear a lovely pair of solid, steel rigid handcuffs, in rigid leather holder, at the base of the spine...

Hello back damage.

It's entirely up to you how you wear yours... Whatever you find yourself most comfortable with...

I'm right handed and wear my baton on the left, first aid pouch behind that then on the right I have my airwave spare battery pouch at the back, then key holder thing, then cuffs, then CS...

And I've even taken a picture for you because I'm that bored...

Yep, pretty much how you like, SC Eagle - whatever works for you. That said, generally speaking you will find the ASP works best on the weak side for a cross-draw, CS on the strong side.

You see I just like to be different. I carry my baton on my strong side because I have to use two hands to get my CS out anyway, so makes more sense that way. Cuffs at the front, rightish, with key hook next to them & limb restraints behind my CS.

What sort of CS holder are you issued, out of interest? Sounds a bit rubbish to me if it needs 2 hands when one of the hands is potentially going to be trying to fend somebody off!

The bog standard loo roll design. I was probably exaggerating a little, I can get it out with one hand but I find it much easier to do the lid with one hand & take it out with the other. And anyway, if they were that close then CS might not be my first choice. Each to their own eh?

I didn't imagine you as one for headbutting

This is the sort we're issued (Peter Jones ones).. They're great - easy to unfasten and draw to a 'ready' position in one movement. Well worth spending a few quid on if you're in a force that issues cheap tat :D http://www.peterjone...p175/index.html

I think that's what we've got too.

I have cuffs on my right, with key hook next to it, and captor and baton on the left. That way, i can stand with my arms folded but if needs be, draw them discreetly.

That's exactly how I have mine, apart from I have a utility tool between the CS and the cuffs. But as everyone else has said, it is down to personal preference.

Has it got a spring in the bottom? If so, hang on to it. They're rubbish as CS holders but they're great for catapulting extra strong mints across a room!

I keep my lovely chainlink cuffs in a pouch on my right hand side behind my torch holder. I do vary my layout quite often as I get bored easily.

Being a South paw I keep my baton on my left side quite far forward so I can hook my mug handle over the end of it.

Mine was set out the same as that, I have now just received my harness!!! Its sooooo much better now, for one, don't get stuck in office chairs with arm rest that can catch your equipment in and the second is that it has taken a lot of pressure of my back, which was killing me on Wednesday before I got it, Thursday it felt a lot better. I still have my belt on, only have my cs(not keen on having that on my harness too), glove pouch, handcuff key and torch depend what shift I am on.

Excuse me, we'll have none of that talk on here

My CS goes at the front, as I draw that the most. Handcuffs on the right side, baton on left, next to spare cuffs.

It might be helpful in describing your belt to others to say if you are left or right handed.

The set up of your belt is totally individual, its how you best feel comfortable with the set up. Bearing in mind that your kit has to be easily accessable to yourself should you need to get to it quickly.

this is my setup

Right or left handed, phill?

As I say, it might make it more helpful if we were to state that. (I'm right handed).

A spring?! Far too complex & no doubt costly...

Oh & I'm right handed by the way.

the best way to set up your utility belt is the way that best for YOU!!!!! my CS is at the front of my belt right next to my belt clip. then my cuffs on my left side with my baton on my righthand side.
every body's belt set up will be different.

Hi all

I'm right handed (just for you David)

Mine is still set up the way they had us do it in training more than a year ago.

Left side - baton nearest belt clip then restraints pouch.

Right side - cuffs nearest belt clip then CS then fist aid face msk pouch.

Lately though looking at the regs belts in the section I'm with they don't seem to wear the restraints pouch at all and a lot of them don't wear the face mask pouch either!. of all my belt kit I find those two items the most annoying as the nylon restraints one is loose and slides around all the time and the leather face mask one always seems to be in the wriong place when I get in a car or carrier.

Is it off topic to ask if anyone has taken any kit off their belt since they passed out?
