Concerning the days events, will there by signs for guests when arriving? I think I'll be taking my guests, going off to do my bit and let them wait for the event to start...

Hi There were no signs that i saw in March but a lot of high visibility of other specials that will be there helping your guests and giving directions. As you will be taking your guests with you you can help settle your guests before you have to see R.P.& V. as you will have your photos taken for warrant cards and you will have your group photo as well then you will be able to spend time with your guests once R.P. & V. Have let you go Remember Look Smart were hats outside building at all times and enjoy the day after all its for you and your guests to enjoy.

Isn't it lovely and peaceful now,Pity about the weather! Anyway, whos coming Sunday?
And are any of you on the Protected forum?
:(
Oh one last thing, The question of Flat Caps for newbies keeps coming up, Whats the score on those then? Personally I prefer My Custodian.

Cheers all and I'll see some of you hopefully on Sunday.

Flat Caps are done through your station and are for use if you are in a vehicle as you will be in and out of one your custodian which you have got is to be worn at all times when out of a classroom at HQ and all times on foot patrol so its a mixed bag really and its also a uniformed approach we all need to look the same at the appropriate times.

Protected forum?? Wassat then??!! :(

I'd normally be at HQ for the attestations but I'm doing a bit of traffic control in Poole instead - got a few thousand runners doing the Race For Life, can't very well have them jogging along when there's cars and stuff driving at them, can we? :( Good luck, hope the weather holds out for you, and enjoy the day!

Re: flat caps, I'm of the opinion (and it's just my personal opinion) that they shouldn't be issued immediately you arrive at a station... the custodian is a great piece of kit and will do the job brilliantly. As you can imagine, some people join the Specials and then decide that it's not for them, there's no point dishing out kit left, right, and centre if it's not going to get a decent amount of use (and to be honest, caps aren't especially comfy either). Once you've settled in and begin working on a squad (for example) you'll have a more valid reason for having a flat cap (ie, sitting in a car for up to 10 hours :(), but for wandering around on foot and Friday night van crews, the custodian does the job nicely. :(

I Agree the custodian is fine but from my experience most ask you were your flat cap is and i think everyone should be uniformed in there appearance .

Be proud and upstanding. It will be a day to remember for the rest of your career.

I was happy to see that at least one of you knows how to polish their boots. R would be proud.

Good luck and enjoy the day, you are being given a fantastic opportunity.

The things you'll learn, see and do and the friends that you will make, trust and rely on will hopefully become part of a life changing experience for you.

Well done on all your hard work so far.
