I think it is great that we start a week earlier -- still the same format *which is no problem*. So it is getting here quicker than we thought. Can't wait to start.
So Yes Greg and myself are on here anyone else who will be in this intake post a message and say hello -- also anyone else who wants to say hi etc is more than welcome! And HI too...

I am still around on here -- try to post as much as I can. I have actually finished my exams now yippeee! I finish last Wednesday so now I have my head down looking through the pre-reads. I know JAPAN well I would say!
It's great that an area of our own has been put on the forum and we can continue to chat. Have you got your lady friend interested yet? It was good to meet with you on the 20th of last month.... doesn't time fly.
I think we need to encourage people from our intake to talk on here -- that could be a job for me and you on the induction on the 16th?
Anyway... catch you later. take care for now
Regards
Nathan

If you look at a just couple of the example answers you will get the jist of what is required.
My head hurts all the time, My son bought me a DS Light with a brain training game on it for fathers day, I have managed to get my brain age down to 31
I think we should all be issued with them instead of the pre reads, we could call it OBT (officer brain training) What do you think

Look at the answers first you say, is that not cheating. You naughty boy
I think DS's as prereads would be brilliant. I could also play, I mean train with, super mario as a ....... um ....... coordination trainer for OST.

As for DS's don't have the foggiest about them -- so I may just ask Ritchie to bring it along on Induction so if there's time I can have a play!

Cheating -- you musn't admit that! No... Ritchie is right in what was said, look at a couple of the examples and then make your own mind up -- I am sure there is no right or wrong answer what you are putting, but it is probably different when we do knowledge checks and asking to fill in gaps etc.

Ok Nathan, I see your 18, We will test your brain age with the DS, the only problem is, the youngest it can calculate is 20, so your gonna gain at least 2 years, how ever well you do !

What boots are you getting Nathan and where from ? I understand there are all kinds of things you can buy that are not issued but handy to have but i dont know what or where from. Not that im going to rush out and buy anything :-) I dont like to tempt fate or count my chickens before they hatch, there is a lot of training to get through, I want to make sure I survive that 1st

Although a pair of comfy boots wouldnt hurt even for my current job.

Hi ritchie.
I bought magnum elite II boots. They were a little more but I figure cheap boots would just fall apart plus they were really comfy.
I got them from an indipendant outdoors shop in folkestone. I would advise going to a shop as I had to have a size smaller than I antisipated and had I got them off the web they would have been no good.
Where about are you ritchie as I could give you directions to the shop.
You are right about tempting fate though and I shan't be buying anything else till after atteststion.

Im all the way up in sunny Gravesend Kent :-) I have just found out they sell them in Millets at blue water, I will give them a try, my mate works there and gets 30% staff discount, knowing millets that should just about bring the price down to what you probably paid without a discount :-) I think we get a boot allowance of some sort dont we ? not sure how we get it though.

I think you could be in for a good deal if you can get 30%
Walked the dog in them this afternoon and they were mighty comfy.
My sister has the magnum responses and she said they are really good to.
The boot allowance is £50. But as with the doctors signiture, it will be paid to us via BACs once we have given in our bank details on the 16th.

I remember when I went to medical... and I asked UncleDave (Dave) about the boots situation -- he suggested that I'd wait till Induction, as boots will be brought up in discussion. It may be that we might want to purchase from Niton and then we can get a bulk commission or something similar, or on other hand we may just wish to use the KPRA (Kent Police Recreation Association) shop ... near to the Uniform Fitting stores in HQ. Personally, I am going to wait until induction -- really not sure what type of boots to get -- been told to get this, and then get that... so perhaps you could advise as to what I need? ? Matt what shop was it called in F'Stone? I have an army surplus shop in Dover... and went in there... tried on Magnum patrol and they were comfy. But obviously so were the grafters....
We have a boot allowance of fifty pounds --- any help would be great... As for DS I would like to see what this is all about -- as you can tell I am a bit weird in not knowing technological stuff -- I be the weirdest one out of the intake award lol!
2 weeks -- count down!
Regards
Nathan

.....I saw some books on amazon.co.uk used ones. you can buy both of these'Vol 1 Crime' and 'Vol 4 General Police Duties' around £8 each......
Done know if im jumping the gun but as its not a serious amount of money I just ordered them both, along with Crime Q & A and Road Policing Q & A. will come in handy as a reference if nothing else I suppose.

Blackstone's are fantastic, if only for learning the definitions of each offence and some situations in which they occur. They are ideal for pc's trying to make sergeant...however i have all four as well as a multiple choice Blackstone's book regarding current legislation and they all live on my toilet floor so i can revise and concentrate whilst 'dropping the kids off at the pool' so to speak
