Well done mate, couldn't have gone to a better person! You don't have to stop saying west is best because we are so you wouldn't be lying or anything!
So are you going to have to spend most of your time at HQ then?

They can say what they like doesn't change the fact it's true
Poppy made a good point though, I think we should have a few celebratory drinks, on the new chief of course!

Thanks for the supportive comments. I hope to get around the County in the next few months to meet as many people as possible and to ensure that I can gather as much information on the pros and cons of being a Special in Cumbria. I have a view on how we should be developing and improving our lot and the senior management now have regular meetings with the ACC who is extremely supportive.
Obviously this is a public forum so I won't go into too many details but you will be hearing more through the official Force communications channels in the very near future.
I'm looking forward to working with you all.

Err... it's a bit of a secret. I can't find anyone that will tell me, so the answer is NO. And I'm guessing even if people do know they aren't going to tell us!Does anyone know why Bill Oliver resigned?

I spoke to Bill briefly at the Northern Area Specials Dinner a few weeks ago, I got the impression, rightly or wrongly, that he left due to pressures of the daytime job, he had been very busy with work for some time prior to his resignation. That may be the reason and seems plausable. I believe bill had 30 years service.
He would often tell me that he'd done more hours through the week in his CC role than he'd done in his day job so Martin's right it's probably gotten on top of him and came to a head. Eventually something has to give.
He's a memeber on here, old bill I think, you could PM him and ask if you really wanted to...
