I had to pay £12.50 for the privelage of my doc ticking a few boxes on that medical form and stamping it, bit of a rip off if you ask me since I had filled it all in in the first place, the hard part and work was on my behalf she had the easy job!
Theres a serious lack of chat going on in these forums

It's those hammocks we got for here, everyone's sleeping...
Sleepin on the job, whatever next...
Do hammocks only go to people in position of power? I seem to have been lumbered with a rusty old campbed .. cant really get much
So queeg pray tell... special/regular/wanabee?

Yes, you will get your fitness assesment first then your Interview. Although you have time to have a quick shower if need beDo you have the fitness test on the same night as ur interview I'm sure thats what the lady said when I went for my SET test? Dont fancy being a big sweaty mess for my interview surely thats not right! ha ha I might have got the wrong end of the stick

You never know, it might be me doing your interview.
Cool, are they generally conducted down at Nelson Street?
Im guessing your involved in the recruitment process then John, are you recruiting quite a lot just now or is my application going to have stalled a bit? I know they pool them for the interviews/fitness
Whats the typical format of interview are they generally quite formal/competency based?

Yes, only the elite get hammocks. If you've a rusty old campbed though, don't start getting ideas above your station regarding power.
I'm a regular. Somehow...

Yeah it's all good still.
No sign of a move, there was a massive shift in personnel within the division for my team but seems to have bypassed my station. Part of me wants to remain where I am, another part wants a move just for "freshness".
How's life back across the water?

Hi,
Just found this site whilst looking for information on specials, so guess I'm the new kid on the block.
I have just applied to Grampian force, sent my application off 23 June got my date for the SET on the 26 June, really fast. Just need to pass the test on 10 July.
Really starting to worry about it now!

You'll be fine the SET is easy as long as you can spell and your grammar is ok, there is a practice one on the grampian police website if your looking for an idea of what to expect. I had a look at it before I sat SET and passed no bother! So absolutely no need to worry at all! To be fair once youve seen the paper you'll wonder if anyone could actually manage to fail it, its not the most challenging of exams!
Im just waiting on a date to come back for medical now.

Hi Karen,
Is it just the Language paper I sit or will I have to do the information handling paper as well? I know the numeracy one is only for regular officer applications.
How long has it taken you from first applying to get to the medical stage?
I will give the practice paper a go...will let you know how I get on.
Thanks

If you are applying to the specials its only the language paper you have to sit. If you've done well on the practice one I wouldn't worry too much as they're pretty similar.
Ive updated my profile (hopefully) to show dates from sending in my application. I had phoned today actually to check my medical questionnaire was received ok as I hadn't heard for a month or so and they said theyre just waiting on the appointments coming through for medicals and theres about 9 specials application waiting just now. I think its about this stage they might start to pool applications before they call you for interview/fitness etc so might be waiting just till they get enough applications in. Lady said they should be sending out medical appts in next few weeks so fingers crossed I hear soon.

Hi Kev,
I'm getting more and more stressed about this SET the closer it gets, I really don't like exams and tests, I have even been and bought a book with example questions to practise.
I will let you know how it goes!

I wouldn't get stressed in the slightest about it, environment is very relaxed when you sit it and seriously its not much harder than an English test at 1st and 2nd year level at school, its pretty easy as long as your grammar and spelling are average! As I said the example on the website is a very good indication of what the actual paper you sit is like, really nothing to stress about in the slighest!
Kev - Got a call today about my medical, end of August, going to have to reschedule tho cuz its when I'm off on courses so cant take any time off so dunno when I'll get a date in the diary for it!
Muppley - You applying for Grampian, thats pretty quick to be hearing as you say!
