I may be missing the point - but to disband an organisation is to close it down... why on earth would we want that to happen?

So how long have you been a SC? and why does it seem like your fed up? in relation to your other thread. Word of warning as well you are going to get slated in this thread if thats the case with a user name like that, suggests you are another one who has found the SC dream in reality isn't street wars

The Special Constabulary is not perfect. What is? But no way should it be disbanded. It serves a valuable purpose. It brings members of the public closer to the police force, ie the specials themselves. It also adds a valuable commodity to the police force in the form of extra officers. The SC could do with some changes and maybe a little modernisation, and that will happen. All be it slowly as any police change is.

The thing that I think most could do with looking at in regards to the specials is the recruitment process. Too many people appear to join because they think they will be blueing and twoing it everywhere solving major crimes and taking part in massive riots. When Mr Reality Check comes a knocking, they stop turning up wasting a full police uniform and warrant card.

Apologies to all... I'm just wanting officers views if the Government do Finish, Disband or sack Specials for example more CSO's instead, what would your feelings be..The way the Specials are being treated in the country I don't think it will be long before it happens.

I'm not changing my username!!!! I standby what I say. I'm not fed up just p**sed off the way were treated as we(specials) give our spare time to help our community to be safer and in return get nothing but treated badly.

Why? We are cheaper than PCSOs and have more powers. How about getting MORE Specials - now that's a better argument.

Yes I am a Spceial and proud to wear the uniform.... My Dad was a Special for 19yrs when it was the Birmingham City Police Force. I just want the Specials to be treated the same as the Regs by using us more, training us more.

Maybe not but some do have and will still suffer bad experiences.
I myself have and all i can say to tackleberry is speak up and let others in your team know how you feel.

Since the OP has been here for a considerable period of time, I think it's safe to assume he isn't just trying to get a rise out of us. You must have had a bad experiance mate, because these are pretty strong views. Personally I don't believe the SC will ever be disbanded, they provide a valuable resource at a fraction of the cost that PCSOs require.
