Ok, can anyone tell me what is wrong with the MX-5 in this Top Gear clip? Something about it is wrong.

Clip

Nothing jumps out at me

Hmm I've been offered a great trade in deal. My 2001 1.6 scooby and £500 for a 97 p plate immaculate and original impreza turbo. Full service history, 75000 miles (thats what my car has done and its only six years old). What does everyone think?

Make sure it comes with a cast-iron warranty
Chances are it's had some abuse over the years, been run on petrol with too low RON (I guess it's an import and mapped for 100RON), might have been chipped by piggy-back to give silly power, done damage and now returned to normal
Check out the FSH, imported WRX should have fully synth oil at 3000 miles, whereas it's 7500 miles for a UK STi car
Make sure it's got it's SVA cert too (if imported)
Potentially loads of problems, all with expensive fixes so use your head, WHY is it cheap?
If it starts from cold OK, the discs don't show lots of wear, it doesn't look like it's been owned by a boy racer (stupid looking mods, you know what I mean) and you get 3 months waranty in case it goes pop then go for it.
Make sure you get an insurance quote first though

Yup it's a uk original, no mods at all it even has the original twin exhaust. New discs on the front. Have driven it and it's nice and tidy. Warranty is included. Insurance surprisingly cheap too

I would take it out for a long test drive, just to make sure.

Dangers involved in that:

  • I never come back due to having too much fun
  • I crash it
  • I get done for speeding (oopsy)
  • I have a stupid ear to ear grin for the rest of my life from when the turbo kicks in

And you drive what again? Have you ever driven one before? They really are the a fantastic way to enjoy driving without spending a fortune, you don't have to drive fast to enjoy yourself in one of these.

Ian that would have been wicked. I'm still swithering about what to do. I'm considering saving up and getting a nice clean Japanese import that's a saloon rather than an estate.
This one caught my eye what do you think?

Yeah I like the way the imported ones have nicer interiors. Only problem is it's in Yorkshire. A long way to go especially if it turns out to be for nothing...

 It's normal for an MGF because of the angle of the centre-console, when it's off it's at the same angle as most cars on-position

I'm dissapointed in Subaru's new Impreza.....an icon ruined! Based on looks, if you gave me a new impreza tomorow It would be in autotrader in a flash, in order to buy an 07 WRX STI.

That Bonnet Scoop is ridiculous.
You're going suck birds and all-sorts into there.

Imagine if you ran someone over?

They wouldn't bounce off the bonnet and roll off your car, they'd just get sucked into the scoop and be trapped.
