Hiya.. just found this site... I used to be a special in PHD before moving south to join the MET...
How are things in Grampian? any better?

Was there from Oct'97 to June'01... Mainly in Phd but did the Broch and Mintlaw now and again..
Been down here since but still think about transferrin back now and again..... I see theyre all gettin new uniforms up there now.. are they any better?

We got the new uniforms last year. They are ok, but they realised they were not very warm in the winter. So they are now handing out long sleeved versions of the T shirt and lined fleeces, apart from that they are ok.

We've still got the old style uniform down here...Although I still try and wear the flatcap if I can get away with it... not too keen on the old helmet... I think the new style uniform is more practical... Usually out on a motorcycle anyway so it's not too bad...
Having a great time down here.. recently did motorcycle and response car courses... Would have had to wait ages for the bike one up there I think... and got my Public order carrier course coming in the next couple of months as well.. Couldnt see them having Solo's for patrolling in Grampian outside of traffic of course...
Have they got the specials driving sorted out? They were just bringing it in when I left..

Most Grampian specials get an assesment drive not long after coming in so they can drive cars (no blues and twos). The younger ones cant drive the big vans though as their licence wont allow them, they have to drive the smaller vans instead.

I am not a Special but I will probably get the chance to work with you guys as I have been posted to North Aberdeenshire Division once I come back from training.
Anyone like to tell me a little about North Aberdeenshire as I will be moving there once I find somewhere to rent - I have never been there before !!

Hi there.. Good luck in NA... Its a good place to work really... Depends where your posted really.. Its a few years since I worked in the area. Its not bad really.. Loads of drugs in PHD and the Broch from what I can remember so the old sect 23 MDA will come in alot.. You get all the usual stuff on a friday and saturday night..Fights, domestics etc.. Loads of BOP's..Wish we had that down in london..
Quite a few drink drives as well as I remember.. The toonsers can be a bit mouthy but us tuechters were ok... 
Loads of little villages about.. So the quicker you can get your driving course the better... If I knew for definate, I could transfer my met driving courses up there I'd be back like a shot...If your posted to the Section(Mintlaw, Old deer and an places like that, Have a chat with the locals. Everyone knows everyone up there..)

Can't wait to get my own place there too as there are so many options and the prices are not too bad either !
