I look forward to the time when the police see sense and use the LED lightbars that the response paramedic cars use.

I agree with phoenix the paramedic rapid response vehicles look the mutts nuts......visible from miles away side blues, and a siren that can actually be heard !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope lancs follows suit with this. GMP have side blues on their vans surely this would make code 1's safer at junctions etc the more lights the better i say!!!!!

I assume that is the case. They'll all have 4 years service next year. VXB should be the first to go, followed by DFU. DKJ only has about 67k on the clock so they'll be reluctant to get rid so quickly.

They're meant to go at three years or 100k miles, whichever comes last. However, this seems to be flexible to suit.

I've only seen one car with this lightbar, despite there being a few 56 plate vehicles knocking about. I got another peek at it last night and the new lightbars are made by RSG. The dashboard have five buttons (as opposed to the usual four) but I couldn't read them to see what the extra one did!

At my nick we've heard that vehicles are now being kept for 4 years. It certainly seem like that is the case with our van having covered 110k!

I'm assuming the extra button is for runlock.

The new car at Bacup has runlock too. I had to show some of the regulars how to use it as I'm "the oracle" when it comes to technology apparently!

You've got it on one of your vehicles too then? Hurrah! Looks like it might be standard on all new vehicles then!

A 1.3 Astra?

Ours feel like a 1.9 or something.

Yep, you heard me right. 1.3CDTi Astras. With a Corsa engine...

All of the other Astras at my nick are 1.7s.

If the reg ends in something close to HXK then it's probably in the same batch, ergo probably a 1.3.

Shizzle.

Hell no. But on the plus side we'd never be able to get them out of the nick car park.

Jon8uk, have your new motors got the LED lightbars or normal ones?

Had a new Astra today, 56 reg, 6 speed, runlock, but normal style lightbar. Very high revving, guess it must have been a 1.3.
