Was just wondering if anyone knew/had a list of which stores/restaurants etc were part of this official discount scheme for MPS employees? So far I've got:

Marks & Spencer
Debenhams
John Lewis
Pizza Hut
TGI Fridays

Can anyone add to the list?

Please, don't turn this into a debate about whether or not people should use their warrant cards to get discounts...we've had too many of those! I just thought it would be useful to put together a comprehensive list off all the OFFICIAL, FORCE SANCTIONED, discounts.

Cheers!

from what I can remember this is more of a voucher based scheme unless they have changed it.

The definitive place to find these discounts will be on AWARE

Specials are employees for the purposes of Health & Safety legislation but not employees within Employment legislation. Specials are also denoted as "Police Staff" and not Police Officers even though it states it on our warrant cards. If you do an electrocnic MG11 it will show a special as Police staff not a police officer.

It shows Police Staff on the MG11 for everyone, even police officers.

The Met Benefits site is aimed at all members of Team Met and that includes us.

It's nothing to do with Ken. He already provides us with the TfL concession.

Don't bother - we'll get it as soon as the accountants work out how to give us a taxable concession without us being taxed

Don't hold your breath

We're told that Specials are attested as Police Officers. This was advised on Day 1 training by a certain Asst Chief. Why conflict of information? Any idea anyone? This should be for another forum if debatable but saw it here so thought would raise here.

all MG forms state Police staff rather than police officer, I don't know why but they do. Despite SC's being Police officers, they are not employees so fall under different legislation

its a bummer, but hey, thats the MPS for you

Ah i thought Pizza Hut was included. I was not given discount at a Pizza Hut branch the other day because they "stopped this sort of offer a few months ago" . Does anyone know if this is at the store's discretion or if it has been agreed by the chain's management with the Met?

Mine still does it. They write your warrant number on the receipt and get you to sign.

You are not supposed to be showing your warrant card ANYWHERE to obtain a discount!

Err nope.
There are negotiated and sanctioned discounts available to police officers/staff on an OCU/Met-Wide basis.

As already stated, let's not start this whole debate again  The bottom line is, even with the Met benefit vouchers you can request, or any other 'Met approved discount' you would still need to present yourself (discretely) as a police officer in order to use them.

Anyways, back to topic - anybody know of anywhere else?

I'm not turning it into a debate over whether you should. The fact is we are not allowed.
