That third pic is incredible David! Where was it taken? All my work is digital now - haven't touched film for nearly two years.
These two taken early today - got them home uploaded them and bingo! (These are of course vast reductions in size and ppi).

Very good. It's the Victory at Portsmouth Dockyard. I've been over it many times though not for some years now. It truly is a fascinating ship to go over.

Snap! Victory is very photogenic:

I've got a load of pics here - it's got everything: cats, dogs, fire engines, police cars, planes, explosions, F1 cars, burnouts etc....

Shall we say a limit of a maximum of 1Mb per picture, with a maximum of 20 pictures per member per month ?
That should allow for fairly high resolution pictures, at least, as far as the net is concerned.
Whoever's organising this, please feel free to PM me.

WOW!!
I didn't realise i'd stirred up such an hornet's nest. i have contacted A&S_SC regarding the kind offer of hosting the pics, and am awaiting a reply. i haven't yet set up the MSN group as promised because i've been away for a couple of days, and yes, i used my camera
i will set up the MSN group or maybe yahoo group ASAP, which i think will be useful just to keep track of who's in and who isn't. Nobody will be excluded ffom the group, but i would ask that images are kept clean and if there is any element of 'naughty bits' then they are clearly labelled as NSFW - Not Safe For Work.
I propose that we have a monthly (in line with A&S_SC's offer) topic, and the winner is the photo chosen as best by those who take the time to look at them. I honestly think that we can make a go of this, and make it a proper feature of PS.com.
Anyway, here are my efforts at the moment

The EOS 350D is excellent, I have the predecessor (a silver [yuk] EOS 300D) and it's great. The "kit lens" is supposed to be variable quality, but mine has been pretty good. I bought a 70-200 L f4 lens too and it is a *fantasic* bit of kit, although I would love the f2.8 IS lens really.

Of course you will get more out of the more capable camera, so I would suggest look carefully at the options and take advice from the salesman before parting with your cash. No point in spending £1000s on a DSLR if you can get away with £300 for a good compact with optical zoom (and always choose optical zoom over digital zoom). On the other hand, if you do want to take 'good' photos, don't limit yourself. Go for anything starting at 4mp and above, go for a higher optical zoom and with a bit more control over the camera. So you are still looking at around £200-£400 for a camera in that range.

My previous camera was a Nikon CP990, very nice it was too - still have it in fact, I should keep it permanently in my bag really because it is still a cracking camera. I got the Canon because it trumped the Nikon D70 in a few areas, was a bit cheaper and I think the range of lenses was a bit better. It was very close though. A friend got the D70 shortly afterwards and it seemed to be much quicker for rapid shots, I got a Sandisk UltraII card and it still is pretty slow, although I only shoot in raw mode which doesn't help.

I absolutely love going out and about with my camera! Now I'm in Cornwall, theres so much more to snap!
Perhaps we could have weekly or monthly themes of things to shoot?

I propose that the first topic should be landscape photography, i.e. pics of landscapes rather than landscape orientation. topic to start today (13th) and end 23rd (a week on Sunday). Any alternatives? give me a shout

Just to clarify, do they have to be genuine as taken pictures or can they be modified using paint shop or similar? I think personally it should be as taken. With maybe a seperate category for the whizz kids!

I got some stick from two maintenance workers while taking that pic - they said something like "gee, I bet he thinks it's like the houses of parliament". I couldn't think of a witty comeback unfortunately before they were gone unfortunately!

I would say nothing other than filters/levels/gamma/colour adjustment etc, plus rotation and cropping of course, the sort of stuff normally done to make a photo look presentable?

I agree, but as editing and manipulation is an art in it's own right maybe a section for edited photos too?
