well I split up with jenny, and she got a friend to try and remove the tank. And they decided to pull the tank forward without removing the rear plumbing, which broke the back panel.Oh dear, what happened mate? End in disaster I take it?

Oh dear!! I would have been fuming! I dread coming home to find either the tank has cracked or heater/filter has stopped working! Always at the back of my mind, which isnt good with 2 £100 fish lol

Maybe - but not for the forseeable!Sure you won't be tempted in the future... there are still loads more fish to experience, a nice salt water ray would be lovely! The original fish tank man can't go retiring!!

I'm hoping I can did it another foot deeper and add a 6-9 cubic feet and move some of the larger fish into it and hard plumb an uprated filter system in

This was her last night doing the usual Ray thing up the sides of the tank, her disc is about 8 inches and she is about 12 inches in length, her tail is rather short for a Motoro, it's possible part of it may have broken off in the wild.
My mission now is to get her to hand feed and become more confident when people are around, as she's still very timid, have started putting my hand in the tank with her food and moving it upto her so she understands that my hand is bringing her food and is nothing to be scared of.

I bought the kids a Turtle the other day. It's a River Cooter variety and he is about the size of a 50p piece!! (see attached photo - bit blurry though)
The shop (very reliable and knowledgable so far with my Piranha and Tropical fish purchases) said the way they were displayed is fine, which was a tank about 2 feet by 1 foot, 1 inch of water, and some rocks and a log so he can spend time out of the water.
Having now done some research, some websites are saying they should have a basking lamp, but other sites don't mention anything like.
Has anyone on here got experience of keeping Turtles, and what might I need. He's been in our tank for three days and he seems perfectly fine!

Sorry to hear that mate - I never saw your update - it was when I was on holiday and then obviously it got lost down the topic list! Glad the other one is ok - stunning fish. Hope all stays well.My worst nightmre has come true!!! Came home to find the filter has stopped working while I've been out, and I've lost one of my rays
his belly is covered in ammonia burn and part of his skin has disolved, the other one thankfully is still OK, although she's very quiet, I've managed to get her to eat, she's always been the strongest of the two so fingers crossed she'll pull through. Have done a big water change and will have to go out when the shops open and buy a new filter. Gutted! Flaming Fluval and their dodgy filters! It's only just over 3 years old and cost me over £100!!
If you read on, it went back to the shop a week or so later! That's when I started the fish craze. They have also now all gone!Interesting topic! So 5 years on, how big has your turtle grown Bas?

Ah..
It's all about the tents nowadays?
Yeah, but it took him ages to sew enough fish together to make a tent
