Have you taken your fitness test ? Do you get the reults on the same day you take the test ?
As a staffs special, i didn't have to take a fit test, although friends of mine when joining staffs regs have had to. I did the fit test in order to join btp regulars! They and i, recieved the answer of pass or fail instantly. They tell you your target and then you take test, so you would know yourself anyways if you passed or failed. Good luck, oh yeh, where did you wan to police?

This wouldn't be so bad but then I found out that a guy I know who had his medical the week before me who is 4 stone over weight that he's only got to lose a stone and he's in!

This sucks, i know exactly how you feel, passed everything in btp regular recruitment, only to find that my bmi was too high and therefore i must loose two st. As soon as i loose wheight, they will give me a start date !
Yeah It's rubbish innit. The bit that annoys me is the bit where they will let someone else in even though they will be more overweight than I am now! Where's the logic in that? It should be one rule for all - not just who's face fits!

Hi all, I applied for the specials back in Feb 04. Passed my PIRT, passed as I thought my medical, measured for my uniform, even given a training date. Then I got the dreaded call, we require a BMI test. This showed I was 3 points over, the best advise I was given, was a 20 minute walk every other night. Even I new that wasn't enough, so I joined a gym and lost one and half stone, went for another test, told I had lost the weight correctly and only had a short way to go. Then I was promised by a chief inspector that on my next BMI test I would be accepted and put onto the next available training course. Attended, so I thought my last BMI test, to be let down, BIG TIME. I was told again that I needed to lose another 7lb and I would not be put onto the next available course, as promised. As you can imagine I was devistated. I complained again to my D.O and he contacted the chief inspector at Trent Valley. The Inspector telephoned me personally and this time promised me, YET AGAIN, that once I reached my goal weight I would be in, no arguments. Then I received a letter from the recruitment department, asking me to attend a fitness test. So once again onto my D.O. I asked him what this was all about, and was told that if I go for a fitness test they would waiver my weight/BMI issue. I refused!!! So now I am left so disapointed and feeling really let down by all.
Im sorry to hear about your situ. If you really want to join us here in staffs, i would suggest jumping through this final hoop. They are probably giving you this chance so that you can prove that your whieght is not a preventing factor in police duties, which possibly falls into the disablity discrimination act thingy. The fit test is nothing to be scared of, it involves 5.4 on bleep test (which is just above walking pace
Once again im sorry to hear youve been messed around and wish you every success !!

I know how you feel mate . I had one BMI test . It was just over so they sent me for a fitness test . I passed , no problem so i expected to be given a training date , but no i had to have yet another BMI test . It was just over again so i had to wait a month then go again . This time i passed now i have got to wait nearly 5 months to get on a training course . So dont give up , they must think your worth it or they wouldnt waste your or there time .Good luck and dont give upIm sorry to hear about your situ. ) and a push pull test. Youll need to be fit enough for this test anyways in order to safely police.
