Police Community Support Officers

Safer Neighbourhood Teams
£18,471 – £20,484 (plus 16.5% shift enhancement and weekend allowance as appropriate)

We are looking for 12 Police Community Support Officers to join our Safer Neighbourhood Teams in Suffolk to commence on Monday 19 November 2012.
Vacancies are spread across the county of Suffolk. All postings preferences will be discussed at Assessment Centre.
Your role will be to provide vital support to police officers by conducting high visibility patrols, dealing with incidents of low-level crime and anti-social behaviour whilst forging strong links with local communities.
You must be community-minded, a good communicator who is able to make difficult decisions under pressure and remain calm in confrontational situations.
You must be physically fit and in order to undertake the training be able to perform extended foot/cycle patrol duties, often on your own, come rain or shine.
Police Community Support Officers will work on a shift system, between the hours of 07:00 hours and 00:00 hours; there will also be a requirement to work weekends, for which the appropriate allowances will be paid. Payment of weekend working allowance will commence once the initial training period has been completed and the relevant shift pattern is adopted for the role.
Applicants who are successful at paper sift stage will be required to attend written assessments, a fitness test and interview to be held at Martlesham Heath Suffolk in September 2012.
To ensure that new PCSO recruits fully establish themselves within our communities and Safer Neighbourhood Teams, PCSOs will be restricted from applying for police Officer and other Police Staff roles for a period of 24 months from their date of joining.
