Take your own grub with you, the breakfasts arent great and the sarnies arent particulary nice once they've sat in a warm van all day either

Remember, the egg mayo sarnies are supposed to fizz. It's the salmonell^H^H^H flavour ferment^H^H^H maturing

Are you counties or MET?

If you are counties walking around in scruffy polo shirts prepare for a visible plumb posting inside the Olympic Park, probably at the end of the 100 metre line.

If you are MET walking around in smart white shirts prepare to be hidden away in some god awful part of Newham (probably guarding a car park for 15 hours)

Take a book and keep a bottle of water and a chocolate bar on you. You never know when you'll get back to your bag to grab a bite and a drink.

I don't know about that, I had a pretty decent BLT on Saturday.

if you eat the food you will no doubt need Immodium. Otherwise take a book and plenty of Stop forms.

As said, try to avoid all met issue food, be prepared to sit around a lot waiting for someone to decide what to do with your serial, don't expect to do anything to do with the Olympics that way you won't end up disappointed if you end up as one of the 99% of Olympic duty serials who only know the games are on in London via media, other than that enjoy! Oh and don't expect to get off on time even when your serial are doing the square root of f all

The last time i was on aid, the force feeding gave me an upset stomach for three days.
I've got my first olympic shift tomorrow!

prepare to do sweet FA except give directions and look like a hi viz teletubby. Despite this you will be on your feet all day and be knackered. you'll also get stood down late after all the bronzes have gone home and forgot to contact the serial sgt with the stand down order.

but i love the olympics (on orders from the chief and ole boris)

13 hours days. Pants food, if you have to eat have the Caesar Wrap but take out the molding lettuce. Don't take your full kit bag, pointless. And don't expect to see anything. (Thats if you're met)

Thankfully we never had to wear our hi-viz and it was warm and dry so no massive baggy jackets.

As vague as it is, it might be worth editing out your duty posting, at least until after the fact. Loose lips sinking ships, and all that.
