Hi there,

Quick Question,

I attended my medical today and was told that cause i had not been off my anti-depressants for more than a year that my medical was 'pending' and i had to check back with them in January.

Now does this mean that its on hold so they can get more information or so that when the year has passed i can progress, as far as im aware vetting is still going to be processed.

So is this a automatic fail, or just a minor setback?

Many thanks

Seems like just a bit of a setback to me, if they're still going to process vetting then you probably haven't outright failed otherwise they wouldn't do that, you've just been delayed until that year has passed by the sounds of it :)

If you're unsure of what's happening your best bet would be to ring HR and ask them. By the sounds of it your vetting will continue. Going from what you've said it sounds like you'll be put on hold till January.

I would also be very very careful about blogging about the process, some within Humberside Specials do not agree with this site so they definetly will not agree with a blog and they will have read it!

Depending on the drugs they can take a long time to leave your system even after you stopped taking them, its more than likely they want to make sure that you have been successfully treated before putting you in a situation that could make the situation worse for you if you are still suffering from depression.

Should just be a delay. They normally just defer this to the force medical officer who will then make a decision on it normally after contacting your doctor for notes on why you where being treated etc etc. Obviously you will have to give permission for that before they can request any such info.
