So, I met a friend of a friend Saturday night, who I seemed to get on really well with. We have loads of stuff in common, we both love cooking, we both seem to have similar life goals etc She also plays basketball. Now I used to play back in school/college but haven't for years, but talking to her has rekindled my love for the game, which I had almost forgotten about. I'm not he best at reading signs from her side, but I certainly really enjoyed our conversation rather long which went on until 5am. She's managed to get hold of my number and text me out of the blue today and we've been going back and forth most of today.

Now here's the conundrum: the NBA do a European tour which I've been to before at the O2. I really enjoyed going with friends a few years back, so I looked at going again. Unfortunately, they don't go to London this year, and so I was looking about Barcelona in Spain. Do you think it would be too much to buy flights and tickets now (as you need to get them early to be cheap)? If things didn't work out I could take a friend and that's not an issue, but if they did, it's something I know she'd really enjoy and frankly, so would I. Going with a friend isn't an issue, and I suppose I could just keep it quiet and make it a surprise if things went ok. I'm just not sure if it's a wise idea.

Gah, it's too late in the evening to think logically.

So just to clarify.

Met a girl, likes basketball, you like her, possible she likes you and things could occur
Considering to purchase basketball tickets in spain for next year?

Her going with you in the future would be a bonus, but should not be a reason to book tickets :p You say you'd be happy going with a friend and that wouldn't be an issue. Do it :)

My only thought is if you did come to ask her next year and she asks how you got the tickets... " well i bought them ages ago to with a friend, but we should go.." "You wanted to go with a friend, i don't want to get in the way"

Maybe wait a few weeks, see if you feel the same ;)

buy tickets.

Works out = nice surprise with the girlfriend

Doesn't work out = with a mate and possibly some money back if he/she's coughing up for their half of the flights

From female perspective...
might be a bit much too soon. Wait it out and see how it goes. I'd love to be told ''pack your bags, you're coming to Barcelona to watch NBA!'' but if it's just after a few texts/meetings she might get spooked.

take me instead!!

I'm kidding...or am I? :new_hmmm:

See that's the sort of thing I'd LOVE for someone to do! But then I'm a fairly intense person and maybe not all girls would find that cool....

To be clear, I really want to go anyway, but I wouldn't want to go on my tod. Perhaps I'll get them, don't mention it and if it goes all OK, mention it in a few months. I'll ask a few friends to see if they're happy being a backup.

I'd buy the tickets, then if it works out take her, if she asks when you got the tickets just tell a little white lie. Personally, I bolt at the first sign of creepiness so just don't tell her. It's a very sweet idea though, I'd be chuffed to bits if someone whisked me away to an event I liked.. Spanish school of riding (horses) anyone..? No..? Ok :(

I am so glad you added the (horses) part. You are advising a course of action you think is a bit creepy?

Women are paradoxical by nature, it could work out and he could end up marrying her because she loves to be swept off her feet, or he could end up being stabbed in the eye socket.....

Yes, and I'd recommended they lie to me and say they just bought the tickets. What I don't know can't hurt me.

let me reiterate, a little white lie to spare someone's feelings is ok in my book, it is also in your interest to tell you girlfriend/wife/piece she looks lovely because if you don't you'll be waiting ages for her to get changed - however if something really doesn't suit or is unflattering do tell her, personally i'd want to know. Good luck :aok:

If you want to go to the basketball then buy tickets to go with a mate, not to go with a girl you might have it off it with at some point in the future...

Well, that will be different time come tonight.

If you want to go to the basketball then buy tickets to go with a mate, not to go with a girl you might have it off it with at some point in the future...

I'd prefer to go with someone I know will enjoy it as much as I will. If that doesn't happen I'm still going to have a bloody good time with whoever else I end up taking.

I think Burnsy2023's hoping for some off-court ball bouncing action... :D

I'm not going to comment on that apart from actually LOLing at that.
