That brings back memories.

We had an inspection parade by the CC in the middle of the summer and after about an hour or two, I started to feel faint but decided that I'd hold my ground and that it would be embarrassing if I just walked out, not realising that a bunch of people had already passed out behind me or had to be helped off.

Couple of minutes later, went down, face first. The last thing I remember was the sound of my face hitting the ground as my body just shut down. I came around within couple of seconds, just as our Chief Officer was throwing water at my face..

The CC came and saw me later on and told me that in his army days, if you went down the way I did, stood to attention all the way down, face first, then you'd get a pat on the back. If however, you went sideways or had to be helped off, then you'd be frowned upon as you didn't stand your post.
