Having used or been passanger in quite a few police vehices now especially after moving to traffic I was wondering peoples favorite police vehicles and least favorite also why.

Mine are as follows:-

Favorite

1 BMW 530 marked and unmarked great traffic car fast and very stable at speeds.

2 Audi A6 again fast and very stable at speed looks great too :winking:

3 jaguar xf not been far in this one yet to fully experience ride etc but it looks great

4 Ford transit connect (AKA Cub) first police vehicle i have driven on duty rubbish handling but the cage in the back is great

5 mercades sprinter (AKA the fun bus) remindes me of being on NPU and again cage in the back also its got a presence when you pull up at a job your never quite sure how meny officers are going to debus lol

Lest favorite

1 New 1.3 turbo astra slow slow slow usual rubbish vauxhall handling

2 Ford transit connect (AKA cub) yep i know its in my favorite but the handling realy is shocking your never sure if its going to stay upright even at normal driving speeds lol

3 Volvo v70 d5 really dislike this car underpowered even after being tuned by volvo and skitty at speed not overly impressed with build quality either.

Ford Transit Connect is mine, as it is very practical and does it's job nicely...though i do also quite like the VW transporter multi cages.

I don't mind the new Astras, but prefer the old and the Fords are ok, but meh.

I do rather like the Cubs...though don't actually know the reason for that name?? Lets face it unless you're a SC advanced driver, you are seriously unlikely to ever get to the BMs or Skodas etc...though we did have a BMW 4x4 once, that would have been interesting to drive.

Whilst not being able to drive police vehicles yet my favourite one for being a passenger in has to be the Iveco Daily PSU vans AKA the fun bus. :new_yummy:

The feeling and the amount of laughs that take place in it on a friday night is great. :new_yummy:

One of my best experience's with them is one night as we were just loading up our callsign comes up with control asking us to attend a immediate just down the road. Just as me and my partner are about to get out to go grab a car the sarge say's we can all go in the bus.

We blue light it down there with all of us holding on for dear life in the back :new_yummy: but failing and ending up sitting in each others laps.

We turn up and the sarge gets out to have a chat with this group of about 5 youths. They all start giving him trouble and bigging themselves up so the Sarge give us the signal. We all jump out (about 8 in total) and I don't think i've ever seen peoples attitude change so quickly! :new_yummy: Off the scarped tails between their legs!

For me I like

the old focus estate (up to 05 reg)

our current Smax fleet

Volvo v70's and the new twin turbo D5 is every bit as fast as the old T5's.

My favorit 4x4 was the old freelanders.

My most disliked are

Transit connect

Peugeot bread can (don't know the name, same size as the connect)

Sprinter PSU carrier, horrible!

And our current new Shoguns are terrible.

It's for rural patrol. Not sure what is in the back, I'll investigate later when I book it out.

Honda CRV is very comfortable.

I do detest the small Corsa's that are NPT cars, hard to fit in with all your kit in, boot is too small and just generally not suited as a police vehicle.

A couple of things...

1) try getting in and out of it in a hurry with all your PPE on

2) Who's sticking it on for the non-compliant number plate?

C) What happens if the 'disaffected yoof' in the saxo high tails it lickerty-spit down a residential street full of speed humps?

Very smart!!

We have two Freelanders once again as the knackered one came back and the windscreen wipers on the other one have decided to work again. Shame I've changed shifts and I'm driving one of the vans all the time now...
