Is there an alternative to the Peli for a small LED which can go onto body armour for writing tickets etc in the dark? I saw someone with one recently but can't for the life of me remember the brand (CL, or CK, or CJ or something...).

That had a circular on/off button under the light, and I'd prefer that since I'm on my third Peli.

One had the clip snap, the second had the LED fail, and the third doesn't snap shut properly and pops up (and thus turns on) at just the faintest touch.

Oooo Peli are on the ball!!

I would have sung Peli's praises last month, but alas my latest one just snapped on the clip! I wouldn't mind but it was only about the 10th time it was taken off my vest! I was going to grumble I'd have to contact stores, but will be far easier to just get it replaced direct!

Peli, for your product development team, it'd be lovely to have some way of double locking/fastening the bottom of the loop, so that when it goes through a shirt/stabby radio loop that you don't need to either use a load of elastic bands or other methods to prevent it from coming off! Sadly during rumbles it takes a small nudge for it to flick off!

Good to see Peli willing to help!

I have always used the Klik Fast mount that I bought at the same time this holds onto the clip and must also protect it from damage. Obviously that doesnt really work if your chest docks are taken up by other stuff radio + job phone etc.

I never knew that... I shall try returning it! (Shame I just binned the previous 2!)

Just as an aside, it would be nice if the clip could be 'locked' shut. I wrap electrical tape around my light and clip to keep it secure!

I'm on my third, have had the two previous ones replaced my Peli with no issues. First one died on my second shift after a downpour of rain, the second lasted a few months before getting snapped in a struggle, the third and current one has lasted almost a year with no issues at all. Definitely worth the £20-odd I paid for it and the Klick-fast adapter.

Seems the clip is a weak point! So Peli, and how about offering a version with just klickfast?

I had a peli but the light just isn't good enough in the rural environment to be used to see where you are walking, or running. I have bought a Petzl Tikka head torch, with a junior hacksaw the headband is removed and it fits perfectly on the radio loop of my vest. 3 light settings means that it's great for the paperwork and the floor when you are chasing someone.

I had Peli VersaBrite III issued in my old force and I bought one when I transferred. While not super powerful, it's a good flexible little torch - if I need more power, out comes the Dragon torch! :)

That's the thing though, I want awesome power from a torch for every job... except my PNB! Peli does just fine on that front :)

Same here - I carry the force issue Maglite in my patrol bag with an LED bulb in it which is great, with the Dragon lights good for searching wide areas.

One option you may consider is a light with a clip that you can put through a radio loop, with multiple modes, one 'tactical' super bright, and one battery conserving low. Or one of the small LED lensers, they're usually supplied with a clip.

I bought a P7 Led lenser whish was a great buy, it came with a P3 http://www.torchdire...-lenser-p3.html as a combo pack.

This is great very versatile alternate to the Peli. Comes with a decent metal clip, slid the torch under my spare radio loop with the clip over the top, looped the lanyard around as well 'just in case'. Has been on my vest now for two years through thick and thin. Good enough for PNB, bright enough to switch on to see floor handsfree when chasing in the dark and good for daytime searches when didn't bring bigger torch.

Peli,

I hope you read this feedback, it relates to a recent desire of mine to send back a broken VB3 for repair.

Firstly, your website's not the easiest to navigate through.

Anyway, I sent an email off, and they notified me within 24 hours of the correct contact details, *and* that you'd already forwarded it on. Nice touch.

Long story short, I posted my broken vb3 off first class Monday, replacement was on my desk Wednesday morning.

Website - Not quite 2nd class, but not easy for a consumer. Service? 1st class all the way...

I have the P3 aswell and use it on my vest although I have fashioned my own klickfast attachment to it with a stud I bought off ebay and some strong fabric elastic. Has done the job so far and is very easy to use in my view...

I have an Energizer spot.

Posted Image

You can buy them pretty much anywhere - I paid a fiver at B&Q a couple of years ago, but I think boots are currently selling them for about half that. They're well made, throw out plenty of light for writing tickets, and I haven't needed to change the batteries yet.

The real beauty is that once you've thrown away the headband you have a clip on the back that is perfectly sized to go round the radio loop on e.g. body armour without the need for (and therefore bulk of) a click dock etc. The overall size is significantly smaller than a Peli. The clip is hinged, so you can swing the light back and forth much like a Peli.

I'm really pleased with mine and I've head plenty of officers (including an inspector) ask me what it is and where to get one. At a quarter of the price of the Peli and about half the size it's a good choice!

I have recently bought a Silva head torch http://silva.se/prod...oor/siju-yellow and it's excellent. Small and compact and just un-clips from the headband and straight onto my radio loop.

Rescueme - I like the look of that Silva Siju. The power switch of my Energizer is normally easy to access, but is fiddly when wearing gloves whereas the switch on your torch looks much larger. I also like the fact it's available in black.

A Peli-light is only to light up your PNB as you are making notes: sometimes I use it in dark houses with no lights, or at an RTC to show that I am there, but it's not intended for use like a powerful 1000 lumens plus torch.
So just carry two torches - if one of them fails or gets lost/left behind, you've always got another at a pinch.

I'd rather have something of light plastic on my stab-vest, that is replaced for free if it gets broken when I am having a scrap, then a heavy metal object that is expensive and can be used to hit me with.

After all my preaching on Peli products it was clearly because no one had ever touched or breathed on my Peli Torch before.....

Alas a drunk broad went to put her arm around me on Saturday night and my peli torch just snapped off at the clip the 'female dog'. Needless to say she duly apologised after getting sprayed....

Now to post it back to Peli at least! :)

I've had 2 pelis replaced FOC, I must concur on their customer service. Absolutely fantastic. Now that our new jackets come with two klickfast docks fitted as standard, I'll have to invest in a klickfast stud.
