Hiya..
I'm in the very early stages of the recruitment process and I've just received my confirmation that I have passed the initial Assessment Day for Sussex police.
Just wondered if anyone else on here is waiting for the next stage?
And any confirmation of how the training will be mapped out.. Weekends/ nights etc..
Cheers :-)

I'm currently mid way through the specials training and we've been told we're the last group to do it in the format of the 8 residential weekends at Slaugham. What we've heard is that new recruits will be doing 20 weeks with specials doing half that based on training wednesday evenings and saturdays at Lewes HQ. Not sure if that is fortnightly or weekly and it may change.

The way I understood it was that the 20 weeks of a night and a day each week was how new regulars were going to be trained if they were recruited from specials or PCSO's. I also heard that future specials intakes would be halted to accommodate this. Whether they stick to this or not is anybodies guess, the impression I have at the moment is that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing most of the time.

Well the direct quote from one of the training team was the new course was 20 weeks and specials would do the first half (i.e. 10 weeks) training, no mention of this needing any prerequisite knowledge
(e.g. a specials entry route only)

They still have no timescales for regulars training and were in the process of writing (or perhaps just restructuring existing content) to fit the new format.

Well then you are probably more in the know than me if you have heard it from the trainers, I was only going on an that was sent out the other month.

Cheers for the replies..
Although it sounds like we will just have to wait and see what's decided as I don't think anyone is sure yet!
Had a letter in the post to say they will be in touch with an update in 4 Months time.. Just wish it was a bit sooner.. Grr :-(
