Hello guys, I'm newly registered. I intend to apply for West Mercia but I'd like to get a few ride alongs first, does this force offer them or failing that do any of the neighbouring forces?

I've checked online but I'm recovering from man flu so it's possible I've overlooked something.

Cheers.

Pop in to your local Police station and ask them about it.

Yeah unfortunately i think it's a no, solely on the basis that it's a security risk!

Also health and safety blah blah blah!

As Chris said above, West Mercia does not do Ride alongs.....

That is unless you are a main politician, or making a TV documentry

But you don't need a ride along in order to see what you would have to deal with, just go to a night club in your own Town / City when the clubs & pubs kick out and you will see what the Police have to deal with

I was afraid that might be the case, I live in the West Mids force area so I've been trying to get in contact with them about this, although its probably the same and for some reason my local station has really unusual front desk opening times.

My nearest town is Wolverhampton so I might give your suggestion a try sipin. I've finished the application form now and I think I'll be sending it off by Friday at the latest, I suppose I can always update recruitment if I get any luck with WestMids ridealongs.

Cheers,

Sucky

When I was at school and coming up to the work experience age, I asked if I could do W/E with the Police and was told no, for the following reasons:
- Too dangerous
- Security risk
- Health and Safety of myself and people I'm going with.

Thanks GP,

Its understandable given the nature of the job, it seems to be the general rule for most forces, I was planning to have a few "ridealongs" under my belt to put in the "preparation" field of the application form.

Cheers,

Ducky
