I won't make a huge post about it as a link will suffice for now - but have any of you done Geocaching?

http://www.geocaching.com/guide/

I've just started, and so far have had quite a laugh with it with the kids!

The amount of them is astonishing - 1.7 million worldwide, including one on the International Space Station, one on the edge of an active volcanic crater to name but two of the wierd and wild ones!

There are around 400 in my local area alone. So far I've found 11

Any stories?

The last time I tried it I used a Garmin etrex and found it quite hard to find the caches with it. But now I have the Geocaching app on my iphone so I'm tempted to give it another go!

What equipment do you use to find them Bas?

I use the app on my iPhone and so far it's been absolutely spot on.

I've been under a sea defence in Hastings, at the bottom of a water tower at a tractor plant, under a bridge linking two lakes, inside a HUGE tree and, possibly the funniest one was finding a magnetic micro on a post box (a big franked mail one!). I know where it is, but due to the number of people about I still haven't managed to actually get it yet! Every time I go back, there are people there - it's right next to a newsagents. That's going to have to be a late night one I think!

The kids love it so far, and it's nice to get them out and about for a few hours.

Oh excellent, it's good to know that the app is accurate, I'll give it another go. There's one only 222 metres away from where I am now!

I've got an iphone app but haven't used it yet. When I first downloaded it I wanted to go out and dig half the town up but as it was midnight decided not to.

The app is £6.99 yes, but trust me, if you want to get into it, it has everything you need. There is a free one from the same company, but it only allows you to find three caches, just so you can trial it.

I made three caches last night - just basic ones from small tupperware tubs. But I have bought this one from ebay, which I think is great.

The ultimate urban sneaky hide snail Nano container ..
Made from an authentic British garden snail shell and filled with industrial resin for strength and durability.
The cache contains a very strong magnet and watertight container, so that you can hide your cache right under the nose of the 'Muggle' community.
I have used one of these containers on my own cache site and it gets very good reviews from other geocachers and adds a bit of fun when found.
Previous buyers have been very pleased with these containers.
The natural camouflage of the shell makes these an ideal hide in any terrain.
All containers will obviously be slightly different in colour and size.
The shells used are responsibly sourced as I have only used shells that are found empty.
As the logbooks are very small (enough for 50 entries each). I am supplying with 5 'log books', one of which will be fitted before dispatch.
Free posting.

Happy Caching
