Chaps and Chapessess

Don't know if anyone else has noticed but we either need to stump up some cash or lose the lockup.

So what is the consensus of opinion, also probably worth bearing in mind that Legend who stumped up for it last time is now with BTP and Paradox has moved onto pastures new.

So do we:

1. Find £30 for a year?
2. Find £50 for two years?
3. Let it lapse?

Your opinions please?

Oh and good morning all!!

That's the query Waddle.
Initially I thought let it go it hasn't really been used, then I had a look and it ha received a few things, and I know I've posted stuff in there that I wouldn't post here.

But given that you are the only one to respond maybe there is the answer........... :new_hmmm:

I've been thinking about this all day and can't make my mind up. We shouldn't post anything in there like operational info etc and there are only a few of us who use it so I'm not sure what the point of it is.

If we need to chat out of the public gaze then we can PM and add more members into the conversation and that doesn't cost anything.

I like it but agree that it has limited use as there is no way anything operational can go up there. Given that the finest constabulary in the country sponsors the force specific forum has any one thought about contacting marketing at HQ to see if a deal can be brokered?

Happy to decloak if needed to do this.

M, given that the chief uses the forum and has posted in the Lockup, Sir any views from the Headshed, obviously if something is in the lockup you have access to it, if we take it to PM you don't and recently all your updates were via the lockup.

So playing devils advocate any thoughts on the lockup being sponsored?

Don't ask we don't get!

So do ask but don't get, I think for now I'' suggest to LV that the lockup closes, is we need to we can use PM and if we find it would have been of use we can get it re-opened.

That seems to be the most logical course of action to take at present.

Gents,

I haven't been around much and this topic completely passed me by, as did the closure of the lockup. Apologies for not giving my input sooner.

I have emailed LV and set the wheels in motion to open the lockup for a further 2 years offering to mod/upkeep it if necessary in the absence of any one else doing so.

My reasons:

- It gives us a place to discuss up coming operations and our thoughts on them out of the public gaze
- Increased communication / another level of communication from Mr T via his updates when / if they come again
- Ability to have our 'lockup chat' restored where we can discuss things of a more confidential nature safely
- Increased communication with each other. As good as PM's are, someone will always get missed
- Good place to keep in touch with other areas of the county and other departments where discussion may not be suitable for the public eye
- A place away from non-serving Herts officers where we can discuss things without having to tar them for potential applicants / new starters.

Hopefully this is ok with you all. I think its an exceptionally useful part of the forum and we'd miss it if it wasn't there.

H

TDCIST, yes you need to be able to send an email from a valid Force email, or prove by other means to Windys satisfaction, as you say bring it on in August, something else to look forward to.

I'm sorry for trespassing but for most of the thread I thought you had a lockup, like a real, under railway arches, dark, dank lockup. For storing, I don't want to even want to think what but I thought perhaps uniform kit.

I'll go away now...

WAID, shhhhhhhhhhh, otherwise we might have to 'invite' you to come and stay in this lockup that we can neither confirm nor deny the existance of!

Yep, it's like a scene from The Sweeney, we've got a couple of old Jags in there and some gear from a job at Heathrow. Maybe it's where all the stuff from stores goes to when it disappears en route to your nick...???

Ladies and Gents,

The lockup is now open again :joker:

Myself and Cargo are the mods for the forum - the password has been changed so you will need to PM one of us to get the new password.

In order that we can keep a control on who has access please keep the password a secret and don't pass it on :new_shhh: You never know who's watching.

I have also pruned down the topics so it may appear a little empty, time to start again and build up a good lockup!

Thanks,

Windy

Should have mentioned in my post above, those who are unaware... the lockup is for serving officers only. So suitable proof will need to be obtained to allow you access. This is ideally to be done via email from a force address. Please don't email/scan/copy pictures of your warrant card :)
