Title says it all really!

Got my application through today and I have to list the dates of motoring convictions.

I have 2 SP30's from my silly youth which were removed from my paper licence, so I have no idea what the actual dates of the convictions were. Does anyone know how I might be able to find out the dates?

You could try a Subject Access Request to the DVLA.

Or give approximate dates and give the reason why you don't have the exact dates.

I had this issue and wrote to the courts for the info and they said they destroyed the information after 5 years. I managed to work out the year and put an approximate month for my application and noone mentioned it. I would be surprised if minor traffic offences from a long time ago would have any impact but make the effort to show you are not hidding anything.

Thanks SpecialSimon, good to see that someone else had the same issue and made it through the other side :)

On my vetting form I had two minor speeding relating to offences from 1990's. No idea of exact dates so said unknown date between 1991-1994 for offence A and 2000 or 2001 for offence B. Passed vetting without being asked any further questions so no need to worry as long as you are honest. This was also for South Yorks.

I tried to trace mine through DVLA and the Fixed Penalty Office, one of mine was 'alledgedly' crossing a double white line which led to a DWDCAA and two others where speeding (30mph). Couldn't find anything, so on the form I put in approximate months and years, then where it asks for the details I explained that I was very sorry I could not trace the exact date, month and year but gave as full a description as I possibly could. The information WILL be accessible on the PNC, so just be up front and totally honest! I got through the papersift for CNC. My advice would be try as best you can to trace them, i did on three seperate occasions and if you have no luck, put down everything else you can.

Just had a phone call from vetting, they wanted to check some details on points that are no longer on my licence. They were happy that i couldn't provide exact dates and just wanted to confirm that they were not shown on my paper counter-part. No issues, he confirmed that I have now passed Vetting :)
