if they can go pst me, m not obstructing them, am i?

Look. This will be my final answer so you can either like it or lump it...

You would be obstructing the single carriageway and therefore cause a driver to have to drive on the wrong side of the road.

a bit like being lawful parked then ?

If you're saying you're parked I'll give you a ticket for parking on a crossing. Either way, you're now just trying to suggest other means of "getting out of it and proving that I'm right (i.e. you) and that serving officers are wrong even though they deal with this sort of thing every shift".

If you obstruct a carriageway through stopping you are guilty, you park and block cars in you are guilty... No two ways about it.

im not on a crossing zig zags ive just stopped to let an old lady cross

Jesus. Brick wall. I have already TOLD you that if you're letting an old lady cross and it's a GREEN light and there is very minimal traffic (i.e. 2 cars - you and me) I will have NO problem with it.

If, however, it is 5pm with heavy traffic and you stop to let her cross causing traffic to stop on both sides and potentially cause injury you will be getting a ticket.

If that's not clear enough for you I don't know what will be.

so its only an offence on a busy road then ?

No it's an offence at all times to commit an obstruction. However following guidelines of PLAN/JAPAN means I would not feel it is proportionate nor necessary to prosecute you. However if it was a busy time with lots of traffic then I would take action.

Hi,

I had this this morning, lady waiting to cross on one side, lollipop lady on the other side. I saw the lollipop lady (high vized like a beacon), not looking to stop traffic and actually didn't clock the other pedestrian as I sailed through the crossing spotting her just as I went and shouted a garbled apology (threat fixation, I know, it's a bad thing)

What's the rules regarding the zebra crossing? Surely as soon as there are people looking to cross I need to stop even if the lollipop man is holding them back or instructing them to wait.

You have to give way to pedestrians on the crossing. Ones waiting to cross are just that - waiting.A foot on the crossing starts the magic that makes you stop.Yours,
WAID
