As of june 20th im out of my phone contract and will be either upgrading or taking out a new contract.
Anyone got a good phone they think I should look at?

At the moment im looking at a Samsung Galaxy SII or a Sony Xperia S. I want the Sony but I have read some bad things about it.

Anyone got one of these two? or another phone thats worth a look?

The Galaxy s2 is a cracking phone and I love mine. But the s3 just came out.

HTC One X, or One S, or the Galaxy S3.

I like the looks of the X and S3 but they're a bit big, S3 especially! The old trend of phones getting smaller and smaller seems to be reversing now!

Respectfully, I disagree.

They really aren't. I've been on both the apple and android bandwagons. The iPhones tend to be rather temperamental, especially seeming to be very susceptible to damage from being dropped etc. In comparison my s2 is much more hardy, taking being dropped on a regular basis in it's stride.

The S2 also has a two year warranty over the 4S' one year. I've also managed to buy the £14 official Samsung increased capacity battery for my S2 that the 4S simply can't compete with in terms of cost of battery replacement, as well as standby times.

The Samsung's are also simply MUCH cheaper both to buy and to get contracts on.

The android operating system is also very good. I don't miss any of the features of IOS. It took a while to get the best out of android. But it can certainly compete with apple.

I just got a new phone, a HTC One X, so far very impressed with it. I went for that instead of the S because it's got double the memory and the most up to date CPU on the market right now. All I need now is a horizontal car dock to fit the Brodit mount to take full advantage of the car mode.

Galaxy SIII all the way. I currently have the SII but will be upgrading to the SIII when it comes out shortly. These phones are epic.

I've had a HTC before this and didn't like the lag on it and also the bloatware. The SIII has the quad core processor like the HTC One X but with a better screen and camera etc etc.

Your best bet is to go to somewhere like carphone warehouse and have a play around on the ones you like and see which you prefer as what I like may not be what you like :D

I was always a Nokia fan, until I got my first Samsung. Can't remember what model that was now.

However, recently I've had the i5700 which was quite good, but now we've got a Galaxy, Galaxy SII and a Galaxy W. All brilliant phones. By the time the contracts are up on these, we'll probably be going for something like a Galaxy Siv or Sv the rate they come out with them, but I'll be sticking with Samsung and Android.

iPhones.... You can iKeep them. :new_yes:

Nokia Lumia - Simply fantastic, and I would have had one if it wasn't for the Blackberry being that bit cheaper and coming out just before I got it lol

But I'll keep my Blackberry, as it's the phone I like, which suits my needs, doesn't cost me too much and does everything I want. And that - is ultimatly the deciding factor for anyone choosing a phone imo

I was a HTC Desire HD user, I enjoyed it, but found software upgrades sadly lacking a couldn't wait to get rid in October last year. Now on a Samsung S2, been dropped more times than I care to remember and still no damage, easily lasts a full day with medium to heavy usage (heavy texting/web browsing on the move/wifi with standard battery) and the software/user interface has just been updated and is even better than it was before (which was already really good). Even with the S3 coming out next week, I'm sure it will last another 18 months without me getting bored of it.

Having spent 3 weeks on an iPhone I wouldn't go near one again, bricky and far too controlled. The only thing I did enjoy was having all my music sync'd between itunes and my phone compared to having to double up playlists between itunes and the samsung software, but even that was solved by Spotify.

I'd advise an iPhone if you wanted apps and games galore, which I do and I couldn't be without my iPhone. But if you're just after a something with a big screen where you can access the web and your emails then the Samsung in your first post would do fine.

I've got an Xperia S and it's a cracking phone! Had a slight glitch with a software upgrade - it crashed halfway through the upload a couple of days after getting it, but turned out it was a dodgy lead not the phone. Orange replaced it in under 24 hrs.

The camera is amazing on it and although it doesn't have an SD card slot, it has enough memory for anything (It'.s also HD and can be plugged into an HD TV.)

If you've used any of the Sony Xperia range previously, you'll find it very easy to use, as most of the interface is the same.

I'd get the Samsung Galaxy S3 if I were buying a new phone at the moment. Available from this week.
