I am now going back for a re test this week,as on my last assessment day they had forgotten to give me extra time for my dyslexia of which they were aware of. :( I have passed my interview but failed part of my Pirt due to then panicking as knew I would not finish the test in time,I understand I have to try extra hard as often struggle with grammar and spelling, but I do try to make my weakness my strength and really have worked so hard for this.... time will now tell.

Your grammar and spelling looks ok to me marrsbar, a lot better than some i've seen on this forum!

Don't forget, they already know you are competent as you've passed your interview.

I know its easy for me to say, but try to relax on the day and you will be fine. :aok:

Well I have been today, when I got there the HR manager was off sick and he hadnt told anyone I was coming :( eventually after a while a lady came back to me to say I was able to still re sit today, had a really nice lady took me for my written test, but had changed from 3 weeks ago gutted as I had practiced for this this piece of written and then another lady from HR whom was also nice, came to take me for the Pirt part of the test, but was very off putting as she sat texting on her phone then tapping on her lap top, feel I let my self down on the maths as did panic a little :( well time will tell now

Gutted I had an email from HR yesterday to say I hadnt been successful, after all my hard work, clearly I had not worked hard enough. When practising my tests at home I was achieving good marks, but I had not been in an exam situation in 20 years and after they had not given me my extra time the first time and forgot I was coming the second time< feel this knocked me a little:( oh well I wont be defeated I will try again.

Mate, all I can say is all your main competencies are shining through in your posts especially, resilience. I'm not going to say sorry you've failed, I'm going to say with the determination you have, you will make an outstanding officer, get in there and don't give up. You are definately going to get there. MASSIVE BEST WISHES! x

I'm sorry to hear that marrsbar, but don't be too downhearted, plenty of people re-apply and will eventually get through.

Like MaidinWales says, it shows resillience and that will be noticed.

Try to be positive and use the next 6 months to practise your literacy and numeracy skills - you will suceed.

A little up date, after going back for my re test of where I have my extra 25% extra time of which clearly never helped me as failed again,I explained to a local Inspector what had happened and that exam conditions were not met at the time of the exam. He has kindly taken the time to contact the head of HR explaining the process of which should have been taken,I was also pleased that the lady who had interviewed me came to my work place last week as a customer and was shocked I never got in as explained I gave an excellent interview,I went on to explain that I let my self down academically, she gave me her number to call her to give me some advice!! so fingers crossed I will keep trying!!
