if you're injured whilst at work you're covered by your employer's liability insurance.
I seem to remember there was a big debate recently as to whether, as a special, you're considered an 'employee' and therefore subject to such things. Can't remember what the consensus was.

I'm sure there are others out there who do the same thing, but would recommend them based on my experience!

There is also the Specials Welfare fund which you can obtain payments from and the criminal injuries compensation scheme, which if you manage to qualify and fill out the lengthy form has a minimum payment of £1000 - 1500 (I think).
You are well protected and looked after as part of the Special Constabulary, if you are not following an injury your force are not fulfilling their duty of care to you as an officer, regardless of whether you are considered an employee or not.

Its covered by the Home Office
We are all part of the NPIA scheme and can make claims through that. But not sure what happens when the NPIA dissolves this year or next.
