2012 Derbyshire Police Officer Recruitment-

Hi, hope anyone can help?

Derbyshire Police have just finished a Police Officer recruitment campaign, stating:
“The force’s Police Officer recruitment line has now closed, with all 750 application packs being allocated.”

Did anyone get one of these application packs?
If so, would you be able to post the main questions asked. (If this hasn’t changed, these are in the Section 4 part of the application).
This would be of great benefit in understanding what the forces are now looking for and if anything, what has been revised and updated from previous application packs.

-Many thanks! :new_yummy:

I don't think anyone will have them yet, first date you can pick them up was the 29th I think, I'm a special with staffs and managed to get one though every other special I know (lots) didn't manage to get through. I feel quite fortunate!

I'm also a StaffsPOL SC and got my details through to the HR team, though haven't send me my e-mail confirming my details as yet.

I'm not expecting lighting fast replies and details etc from them, as they have 750 details to process, but has anyone else had their information event/details confirmed by email like they said?

I do feel fortunate to have gotten a pack, but i also feel for my colleagues which were not able.

I have not received an email from recruitment yet. I believe we should hear something by the 18th at the latest.

Hey Kilo,

I havent got mine yet but i rang their recruitment line earlier today, she said due to the quantity they might be a bit behind but we should all have them by Friday, so ill just wait it out :p If i dont have it by 3pmish Friday ill give them a ring, i guess with email addresses and such its quite easy to make a typing error when over the phone!

Oh and im going to the one on the 30th!

My StaffsPOL master have olympic based plans for me then :pc: so picked something alittle before, so as not to clash, I expect they will stutter the applications so everyone has the same amount of time to complete it anyway so shouldnt be any difference.

Finding HR Recruitments number was a mini-mission in its self, though i really wouldn't be shocked if their were a few typos going out. Understandable though, same about the delays.

any of you internal lot started as a regular yet?

Is there any more information on derbyshire going over to black polo tops and combats like the rest of the midlands forces have done? I was told that this would be happening quite soon.

are you getting both the black tops and combats or just the black tops - some forces have one and the other where as cheshire have the black tops and combats.

We're only being measured for tops so assume its only them.

That seems a little weird as i think most midlands forces have both black tops and combats - could be wrong though. The combats are much better as they have more pockets and are more durable.

I personally think if you are going to change over you should go the whole uniform - looks better aswell.

Are the black tops polo tops or wicking style ones?

Look forward to seeing them!

Wicking according to the email (not seen them yet) and only short sleeve, unless you have lower arm tattoos...

we are just getting black wicking style tops same as this http://www.copshopuk...lice_Shirt.html and they are phasing in new trousers although they are similar to the ones currently issued just with creases sewn in there not the combat style.

I hate with some considerable comtempt, the sown in creases trousers. I think they look really really really lazy and unprofessional. We are issued them as Police Staff in Herts, never liked them overly.Obviously just my opinion though.

I think either keep the relatively smart plain black trousers (DIY creases) or go the combat route, either way I think can look professional. StaffsPOL has had black quick-wicks for awhile now, but with the merger collaboration with WestMidsPOL we are told we are getting combats...i'm not fused really.

Anyone heard are more from DerbyPOL? I know it was supposed to be Aug we heard. Did anyone else find it difficult to put anything useful in the small areas they give to explain your competancies?

I have previously worn the white shirt and tie with old trousers. I also worn the black wicking style tops with black combat trousers. I must say the black uniform is much better for operational duties.

Body armour is much more comfortable with a black top and the combats are much much better than trousers. I say this as they have zipped pockets on them at the sides, two more pockets at the top and then pockets down the sides to store PNB, pens etc...

The black top that you posted is the standard issue I think now - I like them. Anyone have a picture of the trousers they are getting?

Look at Cheshire's uniform compared to the old school met uniform.

AFAIK we aren't all getting issued the new trousers, it's just a a case of as and when. A PCSO colleague of mine though recently got some thinner and better fitting normal trousers. So odds are that we are just getting whatever is bought on the cheap.. our last lot of shirts was left over stock from west midlands.

Don't know about the trousers but apparently they're aiming for everyone to be in the new tops by the end of November. Just in time for the cold ;)
