One day, 500 application limit, I'm guessing a lot of people will be setting their alarm clock. The Constabulary is making 500 application forms available during this time.

Mainly cos I'm in their specials and have to wait until the end of the year!
Also to add -Please read it carefully - the pass mark is now 60% - not the standard 50% that it was a couple of years ago.

For people thinking about applying from out of the area be careful - as someone has said the pass mark is 60% and they hold a final interview. You would need to know about local issues all over the county - no offence but if you are not from the local area you will not know this.

Bu ti know some forces have a 1 year policy from joining the Specials or PCSO, you can't apply - I've e-mailed anyway, even if they have a 1 year policy, could be that I can apply, but can't start until next Jan - Which would work out right.
I'm not leaving the Specials just to apply to join the regs.

You can still apply and be a Special it's only if you get accepted you would have to stop being a special.

Although I agree with what you are saying, even if you live in the county, why would you necessarily know about local issues unless you are a serving SC or PCSO? At the end of the day, external applicants are simply 'members of the public' and a national perception the public have of the police is that communication is not sufficient and poor in their neighbourhoods.
Therefore, I'm not sure you'll be disadvantaged if you live in a different county as information is easily accessible for everybody to see on force websites, social media etc.

This could be a small mistake - but beware - I did e-mail recruitment, I got a standard e-mail back (Over issues above, about being a special less than a year) but in the e-mail I got back the it said the pass mark was 65%. I don't want to sound cocky, but if you haven't been through the police assessment before (I have and got 52%) and you're not a special or a PCSO, you might find that 65% is a very hard score to get.
To be honest, even I'm thinking if I can apply to leave it a bit rather than fail that score!

I note that in the post above it says the pass rate may be 65% - I applied for another force and got higher, but wouldn't have been able to achieve the score that I did without doing the "talkingblues" course.
They are putting on a course in Manchester, from looking at their site
